Ambassador Do Minh Hung, the Vietnamese Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, on behalf of the community, expressed joy and emotion that the General Secretary, his wife, and the delegation, immediately after arriving in London, dedicated their first activity to meeting with overseas Vietnamese. This demonstrates the great affection and concern of the Party and State for Vietnamese people abroad, including the Vietnamese community in the UK, affirming the consistent policy of the Party and State on consolidating national unity and strongly promoting the strength of the entire nation for the cause of national construction and development.
Ambassador Do Minh Hung stated that the Vietnamese community in the UK currently numbers over 100,000 people, actively integrating into local society. The vast majority are patriotic, striving to maintain their traditional identity, strengthening community solidarity, and showing mutual support and compassion, always looking towards their homeland through concrete actions and deeds. The community of Vietnamese businesses and intellectuals in the UK is growing stronger, serving as an important bridge for trade, scientific cooperation, and technology between the two countries. Over the past period, the Embassy has made many efforts in implementing community work in the area, earning recognition and trust from the community.

In the warm atmosphere of the meeting, representatives of the Vietnamese Association, the Vietnamese Intellectuals Association, and the Vietnamese Students Association in the United Kingdom expressed that the visit and meeting with the General Secretary and his wife, along with the high-level Vietnamese delegation, was a great source of encouragement for the Vietnamese community far from their homeland. They affirmed that the Vietnamese community still maintains its unique identity in their host country, where many other Asian and international communities live, possessing qualities such as diligence, studiousness, compassion, responsibility, a spirit of overcoming difficulties, a strong will to succeed, integration while preserving traditional culture and a connection to their roots. They also expressed their desire to contribute to the development of the country, especially in the fields of science and technology and digital transformation, and to receive the attention of the Party and State in building mechanisms and policies to encourage intellectuals and students studying abroad to return and contribute to their homeland.
Warmly inquiring about the well-being of the people, General Secretary To Lam expressed his joy and emotion at the warm, heartfelt welcome, full of love for his homeland, extended by the Vietnamese expatriate community in the UK to the General Secretary and the delegation. Listening to the thoughts and aspirations of the people, General Secretary To Lam was pleased that the expatriates always look towards their homeland, keep up-to-date on the situation in the country, and are interested in the policies and guidelines of the Party and the State.

The General Secretary stated that this visit by the high-level delegation of the Party and State takes place in the context of very positive development of Vietnam-UK relations. The General Secretary requested that the British side pay attention to and create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community in the UK to continue to be stable, continue to develop, and make positive contributions to the development of both the UK and Vietnam, serving as an important bridge in the bilateral relationship.
The General Secretary emphasized the special connection between Vietnam and the UK, a place that bears the imprint of President Ho Chi Minh's journey to find a way to save the country, with famous landmarks such as the blue plaque bearing his name at New Zealand House on Haymarket Road or the stone monument at the harbor of Newhaven.
The General Secretary stated that the development of science and technology needs to prioritize human resources, intellectuals, and highly productive workers. He affirmed that the State has special incentive policies to attract leading experts to create a strong new economic impetus, promote the resilient spirit, pride, and self-respect of our people, and reminded the Vietnamese community abroad to focus on preserving and promoting cultural traditions, especially maintaining the Vietnamese language for future generations.

The General Secretary urged Vietnamese students to continue striving in their studies and research to achieve high results, make useful contributions to the host society, and look towards their homeland, affirming that the State is ready to welcome Vietnamese students and intellectuals back to the country.
The General Secretary acknowledged and highly appreciated the contributions of overseas Vietnamese; affirmed that the Party and State will continue to pay attention to and care for our compatriots abroad, creating conditions for them to live, study, and work abroad with peace of mind; and expressed confidence that with their patriotic tradition, self-reliance, intelligence, and Vietnamese character, the Vietnamese community in the UK, together with the community worldwide, will continue to be a source of strength, working together with the country in the new stage of national development; and hoped that the Embassy would be a reliable support for the overseas Vietnamese community, promoting the strength of solidarity and effectively utilizing community resources to contribute to national development.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam and his wife Ngo Phuong Ly presented the Embassy and the community with gifts from their homeland and sets of Vietnamese books for the children and Vietnamese language classes in the community, so that the children can learn more about the glorious history and beautiful traditional culture of the nation, thereby strengthening their connection with their homeland.
