Weather forecast for December 14th: A verstärkt cold front brings heavy rain and intense cold to Northern and North Central Vietnam.

According to the National Center for Meteorological and Hydrological Forecasting, on December 14th, a cold front affected most of the North Central region and some areas in the Northwest region, causing widespread rain, a sharp drop in temperature, and strong winds at sea.

In the Northern and North Central regions, rain, moderate rain, and locally heavy rain occurred; temperatures generally decreased by 3-6 degrees Celsius compared to previous days. At sea, the Bach Long Vi station recorded strong winds of level 7, gusting to levels 8-9.

According to the meteorological agency, on December 14th, the cold air mass will continue to affect the remaining areas of Northwest and North Central Vietnam, then extend to Central Vietnam. Inland, the northeast wind will remain at level 3, and level 3-4 in coastal areas, with a noticeable drop in temperature.

Throughout December 14th, both day and night, the North Central region experienced scattered rain and showers. On the morning of the same day, the area from Quang Tri to Da Nang City had moderate to heavy rain, with some areas experiencing heavy rainfall. The forecast for December 14th indicates continued moderate to heavy rain from Quang Tri to Da Nang City, with rainfall amounts generally ranging from 20-50mm, and some areas exceeding 80mm. This poses a potential risk of localized flooding in low-lying urban areas and landslides in mountainous regions.

The Northern region and Thanh Hoa province will experience scattered rain and showers, with thunderstorms in some areas; locally, moderate to heavy rain with rainfall exceeding 30mm will occur. The eastern parts of Quang Ngai and Gia Lai provinces will have rain, moderate rain, and scattered thunderstorms, with rainfall of 10-30mm, and locally exceeding 60mm in some areas. From the night of December 14th, heavy rain in the area from Thanh Hoa to Hue City is expected to gradually decrease.

Due to the impact of the cold air mass, Northern Vietnam is experiencing cold weather, with some areas experiencing intense cold; particularly in mountainous and midland areas, the cold is severe, with some high mountainous areas experiencing extreme cold. The lowest temperatures during this period in the mountainous and midland areas of Northern Vietnam are generally 7-10 degrees Celsius, with some high mountainous areas below 5 degrees Celsius; in the Northern Delta, 11-14 degrees Celsius; and in North Central Vietnam, 12-15 degrees Celsius. Hanoi is experiencing cold weather, with some areas experiencing intense cold, and the lowest temperatures are generally 12-14 degrees Celsius.

At sea, the Gulf of Tonkin will experience strong northeasterly winds of force 6-7, gusting to force 8, with rough seas and waves 2-4 meters high. In the northern South China Sea (including the Hoang Sa Islands), northeasterly winds will be force 7-8, gusting to force 9-10, with waves 4-6 meters high.

In the sea area from southern Quang Tri to Ca Mau, between the East Sea and the southwestern East Sea (including the sea area west of Truong Sa), the northeast wind will gradually strengthen to level 6, sometimes level 7, gusting to level 8-9, with waves 3-5m high. The southern East Sea (including the Truong Sa sea area) and the Gulf of Thailand will experience scattered showers and thunderstorms; tornadoes and strong gusts of wind are possible during thunderstorms.

Authorities advise people in mountainous areas to take precautions against severe cold weather that could affect their health and production; coastal localities and fishermen should closely monitor strong winds and high waves to ensure safety at sea.

Hanoi, the capital city, will be cloudy with scattered rain. Northeast winds will be at level 3. The weather will be cold. The lowest temperature will be 12-14 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 19-21 degrees Celsius.

The provinces in the Northwest region will be cloudy with scattered rain. Light winds. It will be very cold, with some areas experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperature will be 11-14 degrees Celsius, with some areas below 11 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 19-22 degrees Celsius.

The northeastern region of Vietnam will be cloudy with scattered rain; the southern delta area will experience light rain in the early morning. Northeast winds will be at level 3, and level 3-4 along the coast. It will be cold; particularly in mountainous and hilly areas, it will be intensely cold, with some high mountainous areas experiencing severe cold. The lowest temperatures will be 11-14°C, 8-11°C in mountainous and hilly areas, and below 6°C in some places. The highest temperatures will be 18-21°C.

The provinces from Thanh Hoa to Hue will be mostly cloudy, with scattered rain and showers in the north; moderate to heavy rain in the south, with very heavy rain and thunderstorms in some areas. North to northwest winds will be at level 3, and level 3-4 along the coast. The north will be cold, while the south will be cool. During thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, hail, and strong gusts of wind. The lowest temperatures in the north will be 12-15°C; in the south, some areas will have temperatures of 15-18°C. The highest temperatures in the north will be 18-21°C, with some areas in the south exceeding 21-24°C.

The South Central coastal region will be mostly cloudy, with rain in the north, moderate rain, and locally heavy rain and thunderstorms in some areas, especially in Da Nang City where there will be moderate to heavy rain, and locally very heavy rain and thunderstorms; the south will have scattered rain and showers with some thunderstorms. Northeast winds will be at level 3-4, with gusts up to level 6 in some places. Tornadoes, lightning, and strong gusts of wind are possible during thunderstorms. The lowest temperatures will be 21-23°C in the north and 23-25°C in the south. The highest temperatures will be 24-27°C in the north and 28-31°C in the south.

The Central Highlands will be cloudy with sunny days; scattered showers are expected at night. Northeast winds will be at level 2-3. The lowest temperature will be 18-21 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 26-29 degrees Celsius, with some areas exceeding 29 degrees Celsius.

Southern Vietnam will be cloudy with sunny periods during the day; scattered showers are expected at night. Northeast winds will be at level 2-3. The lowest temperature will be 22-25 degrees Celsius. The highest temperature will be 30-33 degrees Celsius.

Ho Chi Minh City will be cloudy with sunny periods during the day; no rain at night. Northeast wind at level 2-3. Lowest temperature 23-25 ​​degrees Celsius. Highest temperature 31-33 degrees Celsius.
