General Secretary chairs meeting of Central Steering Committee on anti-corruption and negativity

On the morning of November 22, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Head of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negative Practices (Steering Committee), chaired a meeting of the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee.

At the meeting, chaired by the General Secretary, the Steering Committee discussed and gave opinions on a number of cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the Steering Committee; the results of supervision and direction, clarifying violations and responsibilities of organizations and individuals in the development and promulgation of policies and laws related to the fields of banking, finance, public assets, valuation, financial autonomy, securities, and corporate bonds.

Previously, at the 24th meeting of the Steering Committee in mid-August, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong requested that in the last months of the year, Party committees, Party organizations, and functional agencies focus on directing the continued promotion of building and perfecting synchronous institutions to prevent and combat corruption and negativity.

In particular, the focus is on soon perfecting the institution on power control, preventing and combating corruption and negativity in areas prone to corruption and negativity.

The General Secretary also requested to urgently overcome loopholes and inadequacies in mechanisms, policies and laws that have been pointed out through the review; complete amendments to the Land Law, the Law on Property Auction, the Law on Credit Institutions, the Law on Real Estate Business and other draft laws related to corruption prevention and control.

The General Secretary also requested to strive to complete the investigation of 7 cases, issue indictments to prosecute 9 cases, conduct first-instance trials of 11 cases, conduct appeal trials of 7 cases, and complete verification and resolution of 11 cases monitored and directed by the Steering Committee by the end of 2023.

At the meeting, the Standing Committee of the Steering Committee gave opinions on a number of cases and incidents under the supervision and direction of the Steering Committee.
