President Biden says the US stands with Ukraine after a new budget bill aimed at preventing a government shutdown without aid to Kiev.
"I want to assure our American allies, the American people and the Ukrainian people that you can count on our support. We will never leave," US President Joe Biden said at the White House on October 1, referring to the issue of aid to Ukraine.
The White House boss said asking the US Congress to pass a new aid package for Ukraine is an urgent goal in the coming time. The US House of Representatives and the Senate previously passed a new budget bill to prevent a government shutdown for the next 45 days.
However, the bill does not include any aid for Ukraine. President Biden said Republicans have committed to providing aid to Ukraine through another vote.
"Under no circumstances will we allow the United States to interrupt the assistance that it provides to Ukraine. I expect the Speaker of the House to keep his commitment to ensure the necessary assistance to help Ukraine," Biden said.

When Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the US last month, Mr Biden pledged that Washington would maintain support for Kiev despite opposition from Republican lawmakers.
The United States is the strongest supporter of Ukraine and has also led its allies in supporting Kiev since the conflict broke out in February 2022. The US Congress has so far approved $110 billion in aid to Ukraine, including $49.6 billion in military aid, $28.5 billion in economic aid, $13.2 billion in humanitarian assistance, and $18.4 billion to strengthen the US defense industry's capacity to maintain arms supplies to Ukraine.
