In an interview with TVN24 , Polish presidential adviser Marcin Przydacz said: "I would like to announce that President Zelensky has crossed the Polish border."
The visit, announced by Poland this week but not officially confirmed by Kiev, comes as Ukraine plans to launch a counter-offensive in the coming weeks or months to retake territory in the country's east and south.
Mr. Przydacz affirmed that the visit "should be seen as a sign of trust and gratitude to the Polish government and people".
According to advisor Przydacz, it would not be surprising if the Ukrainian side would ask Poland and other foreign partners for additional support, noting that Warsaw has already provided a lot of support to Kiev.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that his country was grateful to Poland for being the first country to deliver MiG fighter jets to Ukraine.
"MiG aircraft will significantly enhance our defense capabilities, allowing us to ensure the safety of our airspace, save the lives of Ukrainian citizens, and reduce the level of damage caused by Russian attacks," Reznikov wrote on Telegram .
During his visit to Poland, President Zelensky is expected to hold talks with President Andrzej Duda and Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki, as well as meet with Ukrainian refugees.
In another related development, at a meeting on April 4 with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba, Japanese Foreign Minister Hayashi Yoshimasa pledged to "continuously and regularly" transfer $7.6 billion in aid to Ukraine.
The amount was announced by Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio during his visit to Kiev on March 21, including 470 million USD in non-refundable aid for energy and other fields, and 30 million USD in contributions to the NATO fund to provide non-lethal equipment.
According to the Japanese Foreign Ministry, at a meeting on the sidelines of the NATO Foreign Ministers' Conference in Brussels (Belgium), Mr. Hayashi said that Prime Minister Kishida's visit to Ukraine demonstrates "Tokyo's determination to maintain an international order based on the free and open rule of law."
For his part, Foreign Minister Kuleba emphasized that Prime Minister Kishida's visit to Kiev sends an important message to Ukraine as well as the international community.
During a meeting with Foreign Minister Hayashi on the same day, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also welcomed Prime Minister Kishida's visit to Ukraine.
The two sides agreed that like-minded countries need to continue imposing economic sanctions on Russia, while continuing to support Ukraine.
