Can Tho City saves more than 34.4 million kWh of electricity

In the first 5 months of 2025, Can Tho City saved more than 34.4 million kWh of electricity, reaching and exceeding the planned target. This result is thanks to the active coordination between Can Tho City Electricity Company and relevant departments and branches of the city in propaganda and mobilization work for households, businesses and service establishments to participate in electricity saving programs launched by the city.

To ensure continuous and uninterrupted power supply for more than 420,000 electricity customers in the city, in the first months of 2025, Can Tho City Power Company has directed local power companies to regularly check the status of medium-voltage and low-voltage lines, transformer stations in areas with potential overload; limit power outages for construction of electrical works; proactively protect the safety of high-voltage power grid corridors in accordance with regulations, in order to minimize incidents and improve the efficiency of power supply for the city. Along with technical solutions, Can Tho City Power Company has been promoting investment in the construction of power grid infrastructure... to promptly meet the demand for stable and reliable power supply, serving the production, business and daily life needs of the city's people.

Along with promoting investment in construction of power projects, in the first months of 2025, Can Tho City Power Company actively coordinated with departments, branches and associations and organizations of the city to carry out many activities, improve the effectiveness of propaganda on electricity saving in schools; at the same time, mobilize agencies, organizations, businesses and people to strengthen the practice of electricity saving according to Directive No. 20/CT-TTg of the Prime Minister ; combine propaganda on electricity saving contents on electronic information pages, social networks Facebook, websites... of the electricity industry. Thereby, mobilizing customers to use electricity at the right time, in the right place, in the right way and according to their needs; choose and purchase electrical equipment with energy saving labels; regularly clean and maintain electrical equipment and turn off the power when not in use; make the most of natural light and ventilation to save electricity; Use air conditioners only when absolutely necessary and set the temperature at 26 degrees Celsius or higher... to reduce the amount of electricity consumed in daily life, avoiding paying high electricity bills. In addition, local electricity companies also guide customers to install the EVNSPC customer care application of the electricity industry to monitor the current services of the electricity industry as well as instructions on safe, economical and efficient use of electricity.

Along with that, the power companies also coordinate with local authorities to work with large customers, which are enterprises and production facilities with electricity consumption of 1 million kWh/year or more, to participate in voluntary load adjustment (DR) and load shifting programs; proactively adjust production plans, shift electricity usage time to off-peak or normal hours... to reduce electricity consumption, limit overloading of the power grid during peak hours. Electricity saving solutions have been and are being comprehensively implemented by the power industry, contributing to creating positive changes in awareness and actions among customer groups.

According to Mr. Huynh Huu Ky, Deputy Director of Can Tho City Electricity Company, with the efforts of the electricity industry and the consensus of electricity customers, the campaign to save electricity in the first 5 months of 2025 has achieved positive results, the whole city saved more than 34.4 million kWh of electricity, reaching over 117% of the plan. However, in order for the propaganda work on saving electricity to receive an increasingly positive response from customers, Can Tho City Electricity Company continues to coordinate with relevant departments, branches of the city and localities to focus on implementing appropriate measures to promote electricity saving for each customer group. In particular, it will promote propaganda on safe, economical and efficient use of electricity for 2 customer groups: industrial production enterprises and households...

In order for the power grid system to operate stably and reliably during the 2025 storm season, in addition to performing well in technical management, Can Tho City Power Company will increase its on-duty force, proactively prepare vehicles, materials, and backup equipment to promptly handle incidents; focus on performing major repairs as well as investing in the construction of power projects according to the set schedule... At the same time, coordinate with the city's departments and branches to continue to effectively implement solutions to ensure electricity supply in 2025.
