Ho Chi Minh City requires hospitals to conduct urgent inspections after fake Eagle essential oil incident

After the discovery of fake Eagle balm oil, fake Thai Old Man oil... Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health requested medical facilities to check products sold on hospital premises.

On July 8, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health said it had sent a document to the People's Committees of 168 wards, communes, and special zones; medical examination and treatment facilities and pharmaceutical businesses in the area to proactively review and report counterfeit products.

Accordingly, regarding the information that the Ho Chi Minh City Police Investigation Agency has dismantled a counterfeit goods production and trading ring including: Eagle Brand Medicated Oil, Thai moisturizer, Thai Old Man oil and Korean roll-on oil.

In order to ensure safety for users and promptly detect and prevent counterfeit products from circulating on the market, the Department of Health recommends that public medical examination and treatment facilities and private hospitals review and check the list of products being traded.

Scope of inspection within the premises of medical examination and treatment facilities (including pharmacies and other business establishments); ensure that counterfeit products or products of unknown origin are not traded or used.

At the same time, promptly provide information to the People's Committees of 168 wards, communes, special zones and management agencies if they detect products with suspicious signs, products not yet permitted for circulation, products that do not meet quality standards, products of unknown origin.

The Department of Health also requested the People's Committees of 168 wards, communes, and special zones to notify pharmaceutical businesses, medical examination and treatment facilities, and people not to trade or use counterfeit goods discovered in the recent past; only buy/sell drugs at legal pharmaceutical businesses...

70,000 bottles of fake 'eagle balm' produced

As reported by Tuoi Tre Online , the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department is investigating the case of "manufacturing and trading in counterfeit medicines and disease prevention drugs" carried out by Vo Thanh Tam (director of Thanh Thuy Cosmetics Company Limited) and Ngo Anh Hong (Tam's wife, director of My Trinh Cosmetics Company Limited) and accomplices.

Accordingly, at 9:55 a.m. on June 21, while inspecting the two companies (located at the same address in Xuan Thoi Thuong Commune, Hoc Mon District), the task force discovered 15 employees carrying out the production and storage of various types of essential oils and massage creams of foreign origin, including: Eagle essential oil, Thai moisturizer, Thai Old Man oil and Korean roll-on oil. These products are not the products that the two companies registered to produce and trade.

So far, the investigation agency has determined that Tam and Hong directed employees to organize the production of 7 types of Eagle Brand Medicated Oil from Singapore with a total quantity of 69,626 bottles, equivalent to the value of genuine goods of more than 6 billion VND.
