On September 3rd, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism announced that during the four-day National Day holiday on September 2nd this year, the number of visitors to tourist attractions and entertainment venues in Ho Chi Minh City was estimated at approximately 980,000, an increase of 2% compared to the same period in 2023.
Of these, domestic tourists are estimated at approximately 425,000, an increase of 1.2% compared to the same period in 2023; international tourists are estimated at approximately 38,800, an increase of 3.2% compared to the same period in 2023.
The number of guests staying at accommodation establishments also increased significantly, reaching approximately 214,630, a 32.5% increase compared to the same period last year. Hotel occupancy rates are estimated at 85%, a 6.3% increase compared to 2023.
Tourism revenue during the four-day National Day holiday on September 2nd this year is estimated at 2,940 billion VND, an increase of 1.7% compared to the same period in 2023.

According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism, to achieve the above results during this year's National Day on September 2nd, the Department has instructed tourism accommodation establishments and tourism businesses to implement measures to ensure security and safety for tourists and improve the quality of tourism services. This is coupled with the efforts of the People's Committee of Thu Duc City, the People's Committees of the 21 districts and counties, and tourism and travel businesses, accommodation establishments, and tourist areas and attractions operating during the September 2nd holiday.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism believes that the long holiday period is a crucial factor in increasing the number of tourists visiting the city. The main target group during this holiday is families and friends who have not been able to arrange time for summer vacations, with the majority organizing their own domestic trips.
Many travel companies have seized this opportunity, developing attractive and diverse tourism products in Ho Chi Minh City and linking with neighboring localities. Traditional tourism, ecotourism, community-based tourism, and high-end resort tourism have attracted the attention of tourists.

Several prominent tourist attractions, such as the Cu Chi Tunnels historical site, have reduced entrance fees by 30% for group tours (conditions apply) and are organizing exhibitions and displays of historical and cultural artifacts, along with performances of traditional folk art of the S'Tieng ethnic group and a reenactment of the Crac Bar Mey Festival (celebrating the new rice harvest). The Saigon Skydeck observation deck at Bitexco Financial Tower is offering a free museum of Vietnamese traditional dresses (Ao Dai).
These are commendable efforts by various units in creating unique experiences that attract tourists to Ho Chi Minh City during the National Day holiday on September 2nd.
