Dong Tam Snake Farm receives 2 rare otters, hoping to breed them

On September 13, the Hoa Long Commune Police, Dong Thap Province, coordinated with other units to receive two rare otters. Dong Tam Snake Farm has taken care of them and bred them.

According to Mr. Luu Minh Nhut (residing in Long Thanh hamlet, Hoa Long commune, Dong Thap province), around the beginning of August, while working in the fields, he encountered two otters so he brought them home.

Through research, Mr. Nhut knew that this was a rare animal that needed to be preserved, so he contacted the Hoa Long Commune Police to hand over these two otters.

Hoa Long Commune Police coordinated with the Center for Cultivation, Research and Processing of Medicinal Herbs, under the Department of Logistics and Technology, Military Region 9 (called Dong Tam Snake Farm) and the Forest Ranger Department of Region I, under the Forest Ranger Department of Dong Thap Province to receive two otters.

Otters are an endangered, precious, and rare animal species that are prioritized for protection and are on the list of endangered, precious, and rare species IB.

Currently, Dong Tam Snake Farm has received the two otters above for care, conservation and breeding.
