On October 18, 2023, more than 800 students attended Nam Ly Primary School No. 1, Quang Binh province to attend the launching ceremony of the Cha-Ching Smart Financial Education Project for the 2023-2024 school year. Following the success after 4 years of implementation in Vietnam, Prudential Life Insurance Company Limited (“Prudential”) and Junior Achievement Vietnam (JA Vietnam) continue to expand the scale of teaching to primary schools in the Central and Southern regions for the 5th consecutive school year.
This is the first year Prudential has held a launching ceremony for the Cha-Ching Smart FinanceEducation Project (“Cha-Ching”) at a primary school in Quang Binh, marking a milestone in the project’s expansion across the three regions of the North, Central and South. The event was attended by representatives of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Binh province, representatives of the Education Departments and the Board of Directors of the two primary schools Nam Ly No. 1 and Nam Ly No. 2, along with the presence of more than 800 students joining in the exciting atmosphere of the project launch ceremony.
Many interesting activities took place within the framework of the event, in which the highlight was the game experience area with the theme of financial management, such as: quizzes or the online game "Financial Adventure with Cha-Ching" on smart devices. The game is designed based on basic financial knowledge that students have learned and will learn according to the Cha-Ching curriculum, and can be played directly on the website or by scanning the QR code on mobile devices.
Following this event, in October, the project launching ceremony will continue to take place at 2 primary schools in Hoa Binh and Dong Thap provinces.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Huyen, Principal of Nam Ly Primary School No. 1, shared: “ Recognizing the positive value that the Cha-Ching Smart Finance project brings to students, Nam Ly Primary School No. 1 is delighted that the project has been officially included in the teaching and learning program from this school year. We believe that the program will achieve good results, and more importantly, the students themselves will be equipped with useful financial management skills and knowledge so that they can confidently step into life.”
Ms. Doan Bich Ngoc, CEO of JA Vietnam shared: “Understanding the importance of early financial education for children, we are proud to have helped thousands of children in Vietnam understand the true value of money through the implementation of Cha-Ching. Expanding the program to many schools in the Central and Southern regions is one of the efforts of JA Vietnam and Prudential to contribute to forming the right awareness and sense of responsibility for Vietnamese children so that this generation can be better prepared for the future.”
In Vietnam, the Cha-Ching curriculum was researched and tested from the 2018-2019 school year in 25 schools in Hanoi. After only 1 year, the Cha-Ching curriculum was assessed and approved by the Ministry of Education and Training to be taught in primary schools in Vietnam from the 2019-2020 school year. In the first years of implementation, the project identified the first impact areas as provinces and cities in the North to record initial feedback and evaluation of the program. This was also the time for the project to specifically research consumer culture and financial management habits in the Central and Southern regions to improve knowledge and appropriate teaching methods when implementing on a larger scale.
Entering its fifth year, Cha-Ching has been bringing smart financial management knowledge to more than 100,000 children and 3,000 teachers at more than 300 schools in 7 provinces and cities across the country, including Hanoi, Hoa Binh, Hung Yen, Quang Ninh, Quang Binh, Dong Nai and Dong Thap.
In addition, the project also completes the 360-degree educational model with full solutions to optimize financial education experiences including: A set of 18 animated musical films about financial management skills, Cha-Ching learning materials with activities that allow you to both play and learn, Cha-Ching Money Adventure online game, "Good Money Contest for Kids and Cha-Ching Festival" designed with a variety of games and financial challenges for children, and a series of seminars on Understanding and teaching children about financial management for parents.
Cha-Ching has been identified by Prudential as a key project in the Education sector, ensuring sustainability and replicability. Up to now, localities receiving the Cha-Ching project have continued to register to implement the project in the following year. This shows that localities have highly appreciated the effectiveness and benefits of the project as well as being equipped with the necessary skills to truly master the Cha-Ching model.
Mr. Phuong Tien Minh, CEO of Prudential Vietnam shared: “As one of the key activities targeting children, we are delighted that the Cha-Ching Smart Financial Education project is entering its 5th year and has been positively received by students, schools and the community. This is the driving force for Prudential Vietnam to continuously strive to expand the scale of the program with more in-depth and meaningful activities, aiming to build a young generation that is knowledgeable, confident and financially independent.”
