Weigh carry-on luggage but avoid causing inconvenience to passengers
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has just sent a document to airlines and ground service units, requesting a review of the entire process of controlling carry-on baggage at check-in areas and boarding gates, to avoid congestion, ensure safety and create convenience for passengers.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority, recently, some airlines have been unprofessional in checking carry-on luggage, causing inconvenience to passengers and affecting the image of the aviation industry.
This agency requires airlines to use standard, aesthetically pleasing weighing equipment and clearly publicize baggage regulations on their websites, ticket offices and agency systems.
In addition, service staff need to be thoroughly informed about professional and friendly attitudes, contributing to improving service quality and ensuring on-time departures.
According to the new regulations of Vietnam Airlines , from November 3, carry-on baggage exceeding the standard will be charged directly at the boarding gate, the fee is equivalent to a piece of checked baggage of about 600,000 VND/piece for domestic flights. The airline only accepts excess baggage of up to 10kg if the passenger brings and arranges it himself.
In case of exceeding the size or both overweight and oversized baggage, a fee will be charged for bulky baggage. Meanwhile, Vietjet has also deployed baggage scales at the security entrance and boarding gate to control weight, ensure safety and avoid overloading the cabin.
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that in the world , many airlines such as Ryanair, Wizz Air, ANA, JAL, AirAsia, Southwest Airlines, Delta Airlines... also strictly control cabin baggage to ensure weight, flight safety and maintain service standards.
Therefore, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam assesses that passengers carrying too much luggage on the plane not only causes delays in boarding and disembarking but also affects the weight and fuel balance of the plane, leading to a slow operation chain.
