Airlines delay and cancel many flights due to storm Kalmaegi

Typhoon Kalmaegi affected many flights on November 6 and 7. Vietnam Airlines and other airlines adjusted flight schedules, delayed and canceled some flights. Which flights were they?

Many flights were canceled and changed schedules.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that the airports forecast to be in the area directly affected by storm No. 13 (international name Kalmaegi) include Da Nang , Phu Bai, Lien Khuong, Chu Lai, Phu Cat, Tuy Hoa, Pleiku, and Buon Ma Thuot airports.

Cam Ranh and Dong Hoi airports proactively update information to be on guard when the storm has unusual developments.

On the evening of November 5, Vietnam Airlines announced for the first time its plan to postpone and cancel many flights for the next two days. Specifically, Vietnam Airlines canceled flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Quy Nhon (Phu Cat airport) including VN1390, VN1391, VN1394, VN1395 on November 6 and VN1392, VN1393 on November 7.

Flights VN1622 and VN1623 between Hanoi and Quy Nhon on November 6 will depart before 12:00 .

On the Ho Chi Minh City - Chu Lai route , flights VN1464, VN1465, VN1468, VN1469 on November 6 will be adjusted to depart 12:00 , while flights VN1640, VN1641 on November 7 between Hanoi and Chu Lai will be delayed after 10:00 .

The airline will not operate flights VN1650 and VN1651 between Hanoi and Tuy Hoa on November 6. On November 7, flights VN1650, VN1651, VN1660 and VN1661 on the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City - Tuy Hoa routes will operate after 12:00 .

Between Ho Chi Minh City - Pleiku , flights VN1422 and VN1423 on November 6 depart before 12:00 , and VN1614 and VN1615 on November 7 between Hanoi and Pleiku depart after 13:00 .

Flights VN1414, VN1415, VN1910, VN1911 on November 6 between Ho Chi Minh City - Da Nang - Buon Ma Thuot will depart after 11:00 , while VN1602, VN1603 on November 7 between Hanoi - Buon Ma Thuot will depart after 13:00 .

Between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City - Hue , flights VN1548, VN1549, VN1376, VN1377 on November 6 will depart after 12:00 , and VN1366, VN1367 on November 7 will depart after 13:00 .

In addition, Vasco also stopped operating flights 0V8024 and 0V8025 between Ho Chi Minh City - Da Lat (Lien Khuong) on ​​November 6.

Currently, Vietjet, Bamboo Airways, Sun PhuQuoc Airways, and Vietravel Airlines are synthesizing and monitoring information and will soon announce flights affected by the storm.

More than 50 other flights were affected in a chain reaction.

Due to the adjustment of flight schedules, more than 50 other flights of Vietnam Airlines Group (including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and Vasco) on November 6 and 7 were also affected .

Flights to and from airports in the Central region on November 7 will be monitored and flexibly adjusted according to actual weather conditions , ensuring absolute safety.

Vietnam Airlines Group recommends that passengers always fasten their seat belts throughout the flight , even when the seat belt indicator light is off, to reduce risks in turbulence conditions.

Passengers flying on November 6 and 7 should proactively monitor weather information, traffic situation to the airport and be present to check in on time .

Due to the impact of the storm, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requires that for airports under construction such as Chu Lai and Phu Cat, investors work with contractors to immediately deploy storm response work and identify technical stopping points to stop construction according to the storm's developments.

At the same time, prepare conditions to promptly fix construction problems, ensure safety, and limit damage caused by storms.
