Over 1.1 million candidates registered for the 2025 high school graduation exam

Of the total 1,165,289 candidates registered for the 2025 high school graduation exam, 1,122,507 candidates are grade 12 students studying the 2018 generaleducation program, accounting for 96.33%.

There are 42,782 independent candidates, accounting for 3.67%, including candidates registering for the exam under the 2006 general education program and the 2018 general education program.

According to the 2025 high school graduation exam regulations, independent candidates who have not graduated from high school or have graduated and are only taking the exam to get admission results will be able to choose to take the exam with the exam questions according to the 2006 program or the 2018 program.

Candidates who are grade 12 students in the 2024-2025 school year taking the high school graduation exam must take two independent exams in math and literature and one optional exam including two subjects from the following subjects: physics, chemistry, biology, history, geography, economic and legal education, information technology, industrial technology, agricultural technology, foreign languages. Candidates can register to take a foreign language other than the foreign language they are studying in high school.

The high school graduation exam will take place on June 26 and 27. It is expected that on July 16, the exam results will be announced for high school graduation and candidates will use the exam results for university and college admission.

The 2025 high school graduation exam will still be assigned to the People's Committees of provinces and centrally run cities to take full responsibility for the stages of printing, invigilation, grading, inspection, and testing of the exam. The Ministry of Education and Training will create a common exam for candidates nationwide and send inspection and testing teams to 63 provinces and cities during the exam and grading period.
