Not only is this year's event a gathering place for nearly 1,000 businesses in the automobile manufacturing sector, it is also a fiery stage, showcasing the power of the promising electric vehicle (EV) era.

International automakers are “going all out” at this world-class auto show, determined to prove their competitive edge against their Chinese “home” rivals – who are dominating the potential EV market.

Benefiting from the Beijing government's policy of developing electric and hybrid vehicles, the Chinese domestic market is witnessing a strong rise.

Analysts point out that this is a young market, full of innovation and ready to embrace new technological winds. In the context of many major auto markets in the world "cooling down", China is still firmly on the growth peak.

Lasting until May 2, the 2025 Shanghai Auto Show promises to “treat” viewers to a visual feast with a series of impressive “debuts” of the most advanced electric and high-tech vehicles, from powerful luxury SUVs, elegant sedans to convenient multi-purpose vehicles.

Right before the opening ceremony, the "giant" Volkswagen - the most influential foreign auto group in China - launched a "surprise" by introducing a new car line and a driving assistance system designed specifically for the tastes of Chinese consumers.

This move is considered by experts to be a spectacular "counterattack" by the "giant" from Germany, aiming to regain the "inches" of market share that are gradually slipping away.

However, the path to conquering this billion-people market is not a bed of roses as international brands are facing fierce competition from dozens of domestic rivals.

The exhibition witnessed fierce competition between state-owned giants, rising stars like Nio and Xpeng, technology giants like Huawei, and potential newcomer Xiaomi from the consumer electronics sector.

This fierce competition has become the driving force for Chinese companies to constantly break through and create technological breakthroughs. A typical example is the impressive performance of battery "boss" CATL with super-fast charging technology, allowing electric cars to continue traveling an additional 520 km after only 5 minutes of charging.

The 2025 Shanghai Auto Show also saw a strong rise from Japanese automakers. Toyota unveiled the all-new bZ7 electric car, while Honda showed off the latest version of its Ye electric car, designed specifically for the Chinese market. Nissan was not far behind, bringing a promising new energy vehicle.

The 2025 Shanghai Auto Show is not only a place for automakers to showcase their most advanced technologies, but also a "stage" to show the strong shift of the global auto industry to the era of electrification.

This event is clear evidence that the future of the automotive industry lies in smart and environmentally friendly electric vehicles./.
