Cooperation with e-commerce platforms has helped Thai Nguyen agricultural products reach far in domestic and international markets.

Along with the traditional approach of supporting enterprises and cooperatives to participate in fairs, exhibitions, and economic forums, in the past 2 years, the provincial departments and branches have actively worked with e-commerce platforms, opening up great opportunities for Thai Nguyen agricultural products.

The biggest success in 2024 is that the Department of Industry and Trade advised the Provincial People's Committee to sign a memorandum of understanding with TikTok Vietnam and Shopee Vietnam Company Limited.

As part of the series of activities of the Agricultural Festival, OCOP, Craft Villages Connecting Tourism - Thai Nguyen 2024, the Department of Industry and Trade has coordinated with TikTok Vietnam to organize a trade promotion program, introduce and connect product consumption on the e-commerce platform.

Dozens of TikTok content creators joined the tour, experienced the local tea culture space, directly participated in the tea picking and tea processing stages using traditional methods.

According to Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh, General Director of TikTok Vietnam: On the TikTok platform, through camera angles, storytelling and information transmission by content creators will contribute to spreading. Our goal when coordinating with the Provincial People's Committee through the Department of Industry and Trade is to build the Thai Nguyen tea brand, including cultural, historical and tea origin features, thereby promoting consumption to increase the value of tea products, Thai tea.

As affirmed by Mr. Nguyen Lam Thanh, through this program, Thai Nguyen hopes to not only increase the value of tea products but also sustainably develop the agricultural economy, creating the Thai Nguyen tea brand on the domestic and international consumption map.

Regarding the content of cooperation, Thai Nguyen province and TikTok Vietnam commit to implementing e-commerce promotion activities, organizing training programs, providing creative advertising solutions TikTok For Business and comprehensive e-commerce solutions TikTok Shop; supporting Thai Nguyen province in building communication programs to promote "Thai Nguyen product booth"; and accompanying the organization of specialized communication events (with the participation of famous individuals, KOLs, KOCs, etc.).

Mr. Nguyen Ba Chinh, Director of the Department of Industry and Trade, said: Connecting the consumption of the province's key products via TikTok is an important step to promote local socio-economic development. This is a good opportunity for enterprises and cooperatives, especially tea production facilities, to access communication solutions, promote and create digital content, connect and expand the consumption market via the TikTok platform, increase the value of tea products, and soon turn tea into a "billion dollar" tree before 2030.

With Shopee e-commerce platform, one of the notable results is the opening event of "Thai Nguyen Product Store" on Shopee e-commerce platform and the signing of a memorandum of understanding between Thai Nguyen province and Shopee Vietnam Company Limited on January 7, 2025.

The province's product booth on the e-commerce platform is a new, unprecedented model. Thai Nguyen is the first province to pioneer this model.

This is a challenging goal, but very practical, promising and feasible because Thai Nguyen has gathered a dynamic and united community of sellers, an abundant OCOP product ecosystem, on the basis of connecting and promoting unique factors of geography, history and traditional culture.

According to the e-commerce market analysis report in Thai Nguyen province (from February 10 to 22, 2025), sales by product category reached over 492 billion VND; over 7.6 million products were sold; 20,012 products were sold; 646 stores had sales. Of which, 20 stores had the highest revenue on the Shopee e-commerce platform.

Previously, with the support of the Department of Industry and Trade, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Department of Agriculture and Environment), the e-commerce trading floor of Thai Nguyen province was updated on the C-Thainguyen application. Farmers can easily connect when they have output products. Thai Nguyen province has selected dozens of typical agricultural products to put on 2 e-commerce platforms, Postmart.vn and Voso.vn.

The Department of Industry and Trade is implementing an e-commerce street model in Thai Nguyen City. Through the survey, officials from the Trade Promotion Center (Department of Industry and Trade) directly met and discussed with business households, helping them understand the benefits of participating in e-commerce floors.

There are currently 162 businesses registered to open booths and do business on e-commerce platforms. Digitalizing business activities not only helps expand the market but also improves competitiveness, optimizes revenue and builds a strong brand. This is one of the important solutions to promote the digital economy under the direction of the Chairman of the Thai Nguyen Provincial People's Committee.

Through the e-commerce platform, many agricultural products in Thai Nguyen province are supported for consumption, overcoming the situation of good harvest and low prices. The consumption of agricultural products in the digital environment opens up more opportunities for farmers in production and business, especially the opportunity to expand the market outside the province, nationwide and can directly conduct transactions to sell products to foreign markets.
