The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said that North Korea's missile launch took place in the Jangyon area, South Hwanghae Province, between 7:41 and 7:51 a.m. on March 14. The missile flew about 620 km.
According to the JCS, South Korean and US intelligence agencies are conducting a comprehensive analysis of the specific details of the missile.

"We strongly condemn North Korea's series of ballistic missile launches. This is a serious provocation that undermines peace and stability not only on the Korean Peninsula but also in the international community and violates UN Security Council resolutions," the JCS said, calling on Pyongyang to immediately stop the missile launches.
"While conducting regular exercises, the South Korean military will monitor and keep an eye on North Korea's movements to see if there are any additional provocations," the JCS added.
The US Indo- Pacific Command said North Korea's missile launches were "destabilizing" to the region, and pledged to defend allies. "The US commitment to the defense of the Republic of Korea and Japan remains unchanged," the US Indo- Pacific Command said.
North Korea's latest missile launch comes after the country fired a second "strategic cruise missile" from a submarine on March 12.
On March 13, the US-South Korea alliance also began organizing a military exercise called "Freedom Shield" (FS), taking place from March 13-23.
North Korea has criticized US-South Korean military exercises as rehearsals for war against it.
North Korea has conducted six nuclear tests since 2006. Its most recent nuclear test was in 2017. In recent years, North Korea has repeatedly tested ballistic missiles and intercontinental missiles, launching more than 60 missiles last year alone.
On March 9, North Korean leader Kim Jong-un inspected a live-fire military exercise of his country, calling on the military to demonstrate its readiness to face actual war.
