Vietnam team meets Indonesia in the final match of the 2024 Southeast Asian Futsal Tournament. This is the first time the two teams have met in the championship match of the regional tournament.
The Vietnamese team has never won the championship, only reaching the final of the Southeast Asian Futsal Championship 3 times. Meanwhile, Indonesia was runner-up the last 2 times and is the only team to have won the tournament outside of Thailand.
The Vietnamese team has a chance to win the Southeast Asian championship for the first time.
The Vietnamese team won all five matches on the way to the final. The rejuvenated squad under coach Diego Giustozzi brought fans many emotions in the last two matches - defeating Thailand and Australia.
In difficult times, the Vietnamese team showed perseverance and impressive fighting spirit. Coach Giustozzi's students played proactively. The ability to create and take advantage of opportunities of Nguyen Thinh Phat and his teammates also improved compared to the Asian tournament.
Indonesian futsal has gradually regained its position in recent years. In the FIFA rankings, Indonesia is ranked 28th, 4 places higher than the Vietnamese team. They do not have good results in continental tournaments but are always on par with or better in the region than Vietnamese futsal.
