According to 9to5Mac , iPhone users will soon be able to experience the full power of the Truecaller call blocking app similar to that on Android with the iOS 18.2 update. Accordingly, Apple has added a new API that allows Truecaller to access the database directly, providing the ability to block spam and scam calls in real time.

Truecaller app on iOS 18.2 will work more efficiently
Previously, due to Apple's security regulations, Truecaller on iOS could only check phone numbers based on an offline database that was updated periodically, which was less efficient than the Android version. But with the 'Live Caller ID Lookup' API in iOS 18.2, this problem has been solved.
The new API uses advanced fully homomorphic encryption technology, ensuring user privacy. The phone number is encrypted before being sent to Truecaller's server and the returned result is also encrypted, only decrypted on the user's device.
Truecaller on iOS can now:
- Identify and block spam and scam calls in real-time: Access Truecaller's global database and AI to identify callers as soon as a call comes in.
- Automatic spam call blocking: Block calls from phone numbers that have been identified as spam.
- Search for identified calls: Access a history of up to 2,000 recent numbers in the Phone app.
While the free version can identify verified businesses, users will need to subscribe to a paid plan to use the full functionality. The update is rolling out globally over the next few days. To activate the new features, users will need to update Truecaller to version 14.0 or later and enable all Truecaller phone number identification lists in their iPhone settings.
