After more than 2 days of competition, the China Masters 2025 Badminton Tournament continuously received big surprises, revolving around the defeat of the host Chinese players.

Most recently, the world's 12th ranked women's singles player, Gao Fang Jie, unexpectedly lost to Kim Ga Eun of Korea quickly in the second round, with a score of 14-21, 17-21.

This was considered a shocking defeat for the Chinese player because she is currently ranked 12th in the world, 5 places higher than Kim. Gao was predicted to advance to at least the quarter-finals.

However, Gao was the only Chinese player to be unfortunately eliminated in the women's singles. In the men's singles, the host country's powerful representatives had to say goodbye to the tournament one after another.

In the second round, China's world No. 14 Lu Guangzu lost to Thai star Kunlavut Vitidsarn 20-22, 17-21.

In the men's doubles, the Huang - Liu pair also lost to their Southeast Asian opponents, Alfian - Fikri (Indonesia).

The biggest disappointment for Chinese fans was that world number 1 Shi Yuqi had to withdraw from the tournament, thereby bringing two players Antonsen (Denmark) and Kunlavut to the top two seeding positions.

In the men's singles, it seems that only Li Shifeng is strong enough to compete for the championship with strong opponents from Southeast Asia and Denmark.
