University speaks out about Miss Doan Thien An graduating from college after 5 years

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry spoke out about the fact that it took Miss Doan Thien An 5 years to graduate from college; while according to regulations, the training period is 3 years.

Miss Doan Thien An was admitted to the College of Hotel Management at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry in 2019. However, it was not until 2024, that is, after 5 years, that she was recognized as a graduate and awarded her diploma. This caused controversy because the training regulations for the college level at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry only last a maximum of 3 years. Some people think that the school favors Doan Thien An because she is a beauty queen.

Regarding this issue, Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan - Head of Training Department, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry, said that student Doan Thien An was admitted to the Hotel Management major, college level in September 2019 and graduated in March 2024.

According to Mr. Nhan, the official training time for college courses at Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry was previously 3 years. However, the training regulations stipulate: "Students who have reached the maximum study time but have not yet met the graduation requirements due to not completing the national defense and securityeducation or physical education courses or have not met the output standards in foreign languages ​​or information technology, within 3 years from the end of their studies at the school, must complete the missing conditions and submit an application for late graduation to the training unit for submission to the Graduation Recognition Council".

Student Doan Thien An has completed all the courses during the regular training period, only lacking an English certificate. When it came to the graduation exam in March 2024, Doan Thien An applied for graduation after submitting her TOEIC certificate in February. The school's graduation exam board reviewed the TOEIC certificate Doan Thien An submitted and recognized it.

“Compared to current regulations, student Doan Thien An still graduated within the allowed time of 4 years and 3 months,” said Dr. Nguyen Trung Nhan, affirming that the school does not defend or give priority to student Doan Thien An.
