Professor Pham Van Dien, Principal of the University of Forestry, said that the school's development direction is to become a startup university; develop staff, and train high-quality human resources.

In addition, the school will prioritize investment in developing key and cutting-edge scientific research directions, combining the school's development with the needs of the labor market.

Mr. Nguyen Hoa Binh, Politburo member and Permanent Deputy Prime Minister highly appreciated the achievements the school has made over the past 60 years.

The Deputy Prime Minister also shared with the University of Forestry some key tasks and solutions.

Specifically, the Forestry University must constantly improve the quality of training and scientific research, closely linked to practice. “Graduates must be quality forestry experts. The school needs to equip them with the necessary knowledge to be ready to enter the challenging labor market and be able to meet the strict requirements of employers. The quality of the school’s training must be tested by the attractiveness of its graduates.”

The school must be the leading training, scientific research and technology transfer facility in Vietnam and on par with the region in the forestry sector; prioritize investment in developing key and cutting-edge scientific research directions to meet the requirements of forest protection and development, wood processing industry and non-timber forest products, in accordance with regional and international quality standards.

“The school's teaching staff must be passionate people who understand and love the forest more than anyone else, and constantly innovate,” said Mr. Binh.

Mr. Binh also requested the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Education and Training, and the Ministry of Science and Technology to pay attention and create favorable conditions for the Forestry University to further develop.

After 60 years, up to now, the Forestry University has a scale of more than 12 thousand students, 184 teachers who are PhDs, Associate Professors, Professors. The school has become a leading training and scientific research institution in the field of forestry.

The school has trained for the country more than 50 thousand university-level scientific, technical and managerial staff, over 6,000 masters and nearly 150 doctors.
