The performance by students of Bui Thi Xuan Primary School - Da Nang received backlash from many parents when they had students take off their coats in the cold weather.

The performance took place at 7:30, the weather was cold. However, the school said that at that time, there were more than 1,700 students in the school yard, they were participating in activities so their body temperatures increased. Many students took off their jackets and held them in their hands because they could not stand the heat.

The leaders of Bui Thi Xuan Primary School said that they noticed that the weather was not too cold and the activities had been carefully planned. This was also an opportunity for students to gain more experience and better grasp knowledge about the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland, so the school's Board of Directors asked teachers to carefully check each student.

"When the teachers saw that the students were ready to perform, they asked them to take off their outerwear to perform. The performance only lasted about 5-7 minutes" - the school explained.

Afterwards, to ensure the health of the students and not affect the program, the Organizing Committee shortened the performance. Students were asked to put their jackets back on before continuing with other activities.

The leader of Bui Thi Xuan Primary School said this was regrettable.

The school leader said that "the unfortunate and unexpected thing that happened was that some parents reported on social networks that students had to sit huddled in the cold to serve school activities."

The leader of the Department of Education and Training of Lien Chieu district said that parents' comments are necessary to ensure safety during teaching and learning activities.
