On the afternoon of September 5, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung, head of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai City, confirmed that "the information on social networks saying that I received 30 million VND for each student entering Nguyen Nghiem Secondary School is untrue. I have submitted a petition to the police for verification and handling."

According to Mr. Hung, at the time of preparing to open the new school year 2024-2025, information appeared on Facebook with the content "To get a place in Nguyen Nghiem Secondary School, parents must spend 30 million or more for Mr. Hung, head of the Department of Education and Training of Quang Ngai City".

This information spread quickly and was shared by many other social media users. This seriously affected Mr. Hung personally. Not only that, it also "distorted" the image of the education sector during this opening time.

After seeing this information, Mr. Hung sent a report to the authorities, requesting clarification of the motive and purpose of the person spreading the news that Mr. Hung received money to "buy a school".

"I affirm that there is no such thing, this is fake news. I have asked the police to clarify and strictly handle the person who spread the news and those who shared this false, unverified content," Mr. Hung said.

Mr. Hung has sent a petition to Quang Ngai City Police, the Department of Information and Communications Inspectorate, and the Internal Political Security Department - Quang Ngai Provincial Police to clarify the above information.

Initial verification determined that the original news with the above content was posted by a Facebook social network account registered abroad.

After that, many social media users in Quang Ngai province shared this information.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online reporter, Mr. Hung said that the poster had a clear motive for spreading this fake news on the occasion of the opening of the school year. Therefore, it is necessary to base on the Law on Cyber Security to thoroughly handle the information and those who share it.

"Since the news broke, I have been bothered by too many people asking about me. More seriously, some comments online have attacked me personally and the education sector without caring whether the information is correct or not," Mr. Hung said.
