Since the incident where the principal called the teacher a "call girl", the teacher remembers the scene of being... a waste of money.

(Dan Tri) - When she quit her job, Ms. Mai was called "trash" by the principal. She was accepted for training and development, but now that she is fully grown, she has turned to "biting the hand that feeds her"...

Recently, Ms. Le Thi Hue, Principal of Trung Son Kindergarten (Quan Hoa district, Thanh Hoa province), was disciplined with a warning for a number of violations, including substandard behavior and violations of professional ethics of teachers.

Specifically, when Ms. Hue was still the Vice Principal, when some teachers of the school attended a meal with the leaders of the Commune People's Committee and the food safety inspection team, Ms. Hue called a teacher and said she was a "call girl".

An insulting name and image somehow shows the weakness of the kindergarten teacher in front of the school management. In reality, there are many grievances of teachers, even choosing to quit their jobs because of school management.

Many years have passed, but every time memories of her first day of teaching come flooding back, Ms. Huynh Ngoc Mai (character's name has been changed), in Ho Chi Minh City, still haunts me.

When she first graduated, through an acquaintance, Ms. Mai was accepted into a private school near her home. Fresh out of school, not yet fully aware of the reality of raising children, Ms. Mai was exhausted with childcare work.

She gradually became exhausted with the daily work of eating, sleeping, living, cleaning, and teaching dozens of children, not to mention children quarreling, conflicts, and resolving them with their parents...

Ms. Mai often remembers hugging the iron bars of the window to lean against and falling asleep. Every now and then she would wake up and do this or that.

However, the work pressure for Ms. Mai was still not as scary as having to face and work with the school principal at that time.

Ms. Mai said that since she was a child, in elementary school, high school and even in college, she admired the principals because of their dignity but also their approachability and friendliness. She was shocked when she graduated and immediately "ran into" a principal she had never imagined.

The principal often criticizes, curses, and insults teachers in front of students and parents. Words like "this girl or that girl" and then criticizing them for being ignorant and incompetent are daily occurrences.

Even in small things, the principal forces teachers to do things her way. If they do things differently, she will find fault, criticize, and insult them in public, so teachers are always in a state of tension. Not to mention the way they treat teachers is always distant and discriminatory.

“In those days, teachers ate lunch at school, and the principal sat at a separate table. Sometimes, the entire lunch tray for more than 10 teachers consisted of only one fried tilapia, and everyone had to eat cautiously while looking at each other. The principal sat next to her, eating a portion all by himself, and never asked any questions,” Ms. Mai said.

Every day after school, Ms. Mai cried, withdrew, was afraid and fell into psychological instability. However, her parents and relatives around her still encouraged her to "try to keep her job", so at that time she did not dare to give up...

When she couldn't take it anymore, Ms. Mai quit her job. And this is when she faced the ultimate insult and abuse.

Seemingly unable to accept the sudden departure of a teacher, the principal called Ms. Mai into her office, pointed at her face, and poured out all sorts of criticism. She said she was a "trash", who had been accepted for training and development and was now fully grown and "biting the hand that feeds her".

On her last day at work, when she stepped out of the school gate, she ran straight without looking back. Later, through her former colleagues, Ms. Mai breathed a sigh of relief when she learned that the principal had resigned.

According to Ms. Mai, in school, the principal greatly influences the ability to work and the commitment to the job of the teacher. Not only in professional capacity but also in behavior and attitude towards teachers and staff.

For a long time, the difficulties of preschool teachers have often been mentioned in terms of stressful work, coming in early and leaving late, low salary, etc. The invisible pressure from school managers has received little attention.

At a conference on preschooleducation in Ho Chi Minh City not long ago, the former head of the preschool education department of a university shared that in many places, the preschool education environment is very stifling for teachers.

Preschool teachers, especially those who have just graduated, really need sharing and understanding from managers to stick with the profession (Illustration: Hoai Nam).

Teachers' educational and professional activities are difficult to promote because they have to do too much manual labor and they are passive because they are "entangled" with the will of the managers and school owners.

Many leaders and school owners do not come from the preschool industry, so sometimes the regulations and instructions are rigid, inflexible, and unrealistic. In that case, teachers are the ones who have to bear the brunt.

Not to mention, according to this person, when direct managers at schools disrespect teachers and behave uncontrollably, the suffering of preschool teachers increases many times over, affecting their working spirit and attachment to the environment and work.
