Over the past 65 years, whether in the fierce fire of war or in the period of innovation, integration and development, the Party Committee, government, army and people of Cat Hai district have bravely fought to protect the island.
At the same time, being dynamic and creative in the construction and development of the homeland, Cat Hai from a pristine island district, with only sea sand and gravel, has become the key marine economic center of Hai Phong City and the northern provinces.

According to Nguoi Dua Tin , tens of thousands of domestic and international tourists came to Cat Ba tourist area during the traditional festival in 2024. Due to the sudden increase in the number of tourists, at Dong Bai ferry and Cai Vieng ferry taking visitors from the mainland to Cat Ba island and vice versa, there was a local congestion, especially on March 30 and 31, 2024.
Previously, from March 1, 2024, Hai Phong City stopped the operation of Got Ferry Terminal, transferring all 9 ferries and human resources to Dong Bai Ferry Terminal to limit congestion during peak tourist season, holidays, and weekends. However, due to the small and old ferries, the congestion has not been completely resolved.
It is expected that on April 30 and May 1, a number of newly built ferries will be put into operation on the Dong Bai - Cai Vieng route, along with encouraging people and tourists to use cable cars, high-speed trains, public transport, and ferry routes between Cat Ba Island and the mainland, which can reduce long-term congestion.
To facilitate the people and tourists attending this year's festival, the authorities of Cat Hai district, Hai Phong city, have increased the deployment of forces to ensure security, order and traffic safety. At the same time, they have completed the installation of a free public wifi access system with nearly 60 points.

This is the first time Cat Ba Archipelago has had this honor. Meanwhile, for Ha Long Bay, this is the third time.
To effectively exploit the effects of the World Natural Heritage of Cat Ba Archipelago - Ha Long Bay as well as protect this precious asset, Hai Phong City has set out a specific strategy and roadmap. In particular, strengthening coordination with Quang Ninh province, promoting propaganda and promotion to attract domestic and international tourists, reducing traffic congestion on the road to Cat Ba Island .
