(HNMO) - On June 6, the Vietnamese women's team had their first training session, kicking off their training trip in Europe to prepare for the Women's World Cup. Sharing about this plan, coach Mai Duc Chung affirmed that the training conditions here will be suitable for the players to improve their physical strength and learn more, to be ready for their first participation in the most prestigious women's football tournament in the world.

Coach Mai Duc Chung had his first training session with the Vietnamese women's team to prepare for the 2023 Women's World Cup.

The training plan in Germany and Poland was calculated early and carefully prepared by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the coaching staff to ensure the best conditions for athletes before the major tournament that the Vietnamese women's team will participate in for the first time.

“Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has recently instructed the whole team not to set big ambitions for the Women's World Cup, but there are still requirements for the athletes. Our level is not equal to that of our opponents in the tournament, this is also the first time participating, so we will keep the athletes' spirit comfortable but there are still professional requirements. After the upcoming tournament, we will compete in the ASIAD and the 2024 Paris Olympics Qualifiers, which is also the team's goal this year. We need to go further. In the coming years, Vietnamese football needs to gradually improve, have better achievements to meet the requirements of the leaders and the expectations of fans across the country," Coach Mai Duc Chung shared.

The first training session of the Vietnamese women's team took place at the Sommerdamm Russelsheim stadium, a 15-minute bus ride from the team's base. In the first training session, the coaching staff had the athletes practice team coordination and group tactics. In addition, coach Mai Duc Chung and his colleagues also had the students practice more speed. "I want our athletes to coordinate quickly on 2/3 of the field, play tight defense and counterattack quickly. When we get the ball, we have to attack quickly on the opponent's field," said coach Mai Duc Chung.

The Vietnamese women's team will have 3 weeks of training in Germany and Poland with 4 friendly matches against top European clubs and teams. Every day, the team will have a light training session in the morning and a main training session in the afternoon.
