Over the past years, Long An has become a bright spot in the region in terms of investment attraction . Many enterprises and units investing in construction works and projects in the area have promoted their effectiveness, making an important contribution to promoting socio-economic development. The province orients that industry and construction continue to play a leading role in the local economic structure; striving to reach the top in the Mekong Delta region and maintain a good position in the Southern Key Economic Zone. The province has implemented many policies and incentives, supporting and creating favorable conditions for enterprises to operate and invest in the area.

In the province, there are 18,973 registered enterprises (of which 14,471 are operating enterprises) with a total registered capital of 387,520 billion VND. The whole province has 2,227 domestic projects with a registered capital of more than 394,778 billion VND; there are 1,349 FDI projects with a capital of more than 12.4 billion USD, of which 635 projects are in operation with a total investment capital of more than 4.2 billion USD.

Although it is a "lively" locality in attracting many businesses to invest, in the development process, Long An has always been consistent in its viewpoint of not attracting investment massively, giving priority to investors using green, clean, friendly technology with little impact on the environment to develop the economy and protect the environment sustainably, developing a green economy.

The province directed departments, branches, and localities, especially the Department of Natural Resources and Environment (TN&MT), to strengthen coordination, improve state management of environmental protection, and minimize pollution and environmental impacts.

According to the representative of the Management Board of Anh Hong Industrial Park (Duc Hoa district), in production, business activities as well as investment reception, the Industrial Park is always aware of its role and responsibility in environmental protection. The Industrial Park has built a complete centralized wastewater treatment system, meeting standards and ensuring the treatment of all wastewater generated by secondary investors; reporting the environmental situation to the management agency for monitoring and supervision. The Industrial Park's wastewater treatment system has a design capacity of ^2,000m3 /day and night. Hazardous waste, industrial waste, and domestic waste are contracted by the Industrial Park with a competent unit to collect, transport, and treat them in accordance with regulations. In the Industrial Park, many trees are planted and household waste bins are arranged to improve the environmental landscape. In particular, since the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 took effect, the Industrial Park has proactively coordinated with the Department of Natural Resources and Environment and Duc Hoa district to organize propaganda and disseminate all regulations, especially new regulations of the Law to ensure that the Law is fully and seriously implemented and that enterprises promote their role in environmental protection issues at present as well as in the coming period.

According to the representative of the Management Board of Hoa Binh Industrial Park (Thu Thua district) - Dang Trung Tin, the enterprise is always highly aware of its role and responsibility in environmental protection when operating. The industrial park has completed the construction of a wastewater treatment system that meets standards (about 2,000m3/day and night), ensuring the reception and treatment of all wastewater during the production process of secondary enterprises. The wastewater after treatment meets column A according to regulations before being discharged into the environment.

"We installed an automatic wastewater monitoring system and connected and transmitted data to the Department of Natural Resources and Environment for monitoring and inspection; the waste is signed by the industrial park with a fully functional unit to collect, transport and treat, in which hazardous waste has a separate dumping location according to regulations, before being transported and treated; the industrial park has enough green areas to both create landscape and regulate the air, protect the environment. The reporting regime on environmental protection work is implemented in accordance with regulations. Currently, we coordinate with units to organize propaganda and dissemination of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, which takes effect on January 1, 2022, to secondary units so that they know, grasp and coordinate well with functional sectors in inspecting and supervising environmental activities here" - Mr. Dang Trung Tin said.

"The 2020 Law on Environmental Protection officially took effect from January 1, 2022. The law consists of 16 chapters and 171 articles (4 chapters less, 1 article more than the 2014 Law on Environmental Protection), with many new points, contributing to perfecting the mechanism and policies on environmental protection law. Since the 2020 Law on Environmental Protection was passed by the National Assembly, many localities in the province have proactively implemented many environmental protection solutions, mobilizing the participation of authorities at all levels, people and businesses, creating habits and awareness of compliance before the law took effect, especially in the field of production and business - where there is a great potential for environmental pollution if management is not strict as well as the awareness of compliance and law enforcement of units".

According to the Head of the Department of Natural Resources and Environment of Duc Hoa district - Mai Trung Hieu, environmental management work is regularly inspected. The district has effective methods and models, from which to learn from and replicate them in the direction of safe and sustainable development and gradually bring the Law on Environmental Protection into life. In particular, in the field of production, the district regularly coordinates with infrastructure investors, business owners, etc. to focus on disseminating and popularizing the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection. From there, businesses operate to grasp, strictly comply with regulations, raise awareness, role and closely coordinate with localities in organizing the effective implementation of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Thuan informed: In addition to strengthening inspection and strict control of environmental protection work, resolutely correcting and handling violating units and individuals,... the Department of Natural Resources and Environment focuses on promoting propaganda and dissemination of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 to investors of industrial parks and clusters, and business owners to grasp. Thanks to that, the enforcement of environmental protection laws in the province in recent times in the fields of production and business has been strictly implemented, the environment and environmental quality have been improved and enhanced year by year.

In the coming time, the Department will continue to promote propaganda and dissemination of regulations to enterprises to ensure that the Law on Environmental Protection 2020 is fully and seriously implemented; coordinate with Long An Newspaper, Long An Radio and Television Station, etc. to propagate and widely disseminate regulations; organize guidance on the implementation of the Law on Environmental Protection, the Law on Biodiversity and related legal documents for Party committees at all levels, authorities, unions, organizations, agencies, units, enterprises and all classes of people in the area to understand and implement.

At the same time, the Department coordinates to bring the Party's resolutions and the State's laws into life to raise awareness of all levels, sectors, enterprises and people about environmental protection, ensuring synchronous and effective implementation in state management in the field of environmental protection, focusing on propaganda activities and dissemination of the Law to enterprises;...
