On May 8, at the 9th plenary session of the Social Committee, reporting on the results of implementing national gender equality goals in 2022, Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Thi Ha said that 9/20 targets have been achieved compared to the goals of the strategy to 2025, including better implementation targets.

Specifically, 7/20 targets have improved results compared to 2021 and strive to achieve the target by 2025. The proportion of state management agencies and local authorities at all levels with key female leaders is estimated to reach 60% by 2025 and 75% by 2030. The proportion of female wage workers out of the total number of employed female workers will reach 50% by 2025 and about 60% by 2030...

Representative of the auditing agency, Standing Member of the Social Committee Nguyen Thanh Cam acknowledged that compared to 2021, the results of implementing the goals and targets have made progress. Vietnam's gender equality ranking index in 2022 increased by 4 places compared to 2021 (from 87th/146 countries to 83rd/146 countries). In particular, the indicators on women's empowerment, health and education have made remarkable progress. The gender gap in all fields in general continues to be narrowed and is internationally recognized.

However, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Cam noted that the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on women and vulnerable groups in society, especially physical and mental impacts, have increased the gender equality gap, affecting the implementation of the strategy. Meanwhile, the staff working on gender equality is still thin; civil servants specializing in gender equality are mainly women (accounting for 71.6%) and are often rotated and changed annually; skills and knowledge on gender equality are still limited... Ms. Cam also proposed to soon have practical solutions to ensure the proportion of female staff in state management agencies and local authorities, and full-time staff working on gender equality; strengthen inspection, examination, and handling of violations of the law on gender equality...
