Previously, as reported by Lam Dong Newspaper, the authorities had detained 3 subjects who illegally exploited Lac Duong protective forest. The subjects were detained for illegal exploitation of forest products, including: Bui Van Huan (38 years old), Nguyen Van Tuyen (38 years old; both temporarily residing in Da Sar commune, Lac Duong district) and Bui Van Nam (36 years old, temporarily residing in Ward 9, Da Lat city).

Subjects illegally exploiting forests in Sub-zone 122, Da Chais commune, Lac Duong district

The above subjects arbitrarily entered the protective forest area of ​​Sub-zone 122, Da Chais commune, Lac Duong district to exploit dead pine wood and bring it to the wood processing workshop in Da Phu area (Ward 7, Da Lat city) for the purpose of sawing boards or making firewood without permission from the authorities.

The scene of the illegal logging operation showed that many three-leaf pine trees (group IV) had been felled and scattered; the pine trees had been cut into sections (1 m to 3 m long) for ease of transportation. At the time of the scene investigation, some sections of wood had been taken away from the scene.

This is a protected forest area under the management of the Da Nhim Forest Management Board. At the scene, there are 31 pine trees illegally cut down in the natural forest. The volume of illegally exploited forest products still at the scene is 74 logs, with a volume of 11,595 ^m3 .

During the examination, the inspection team determined that there were 23 tree stumps with part or all of the forest products taken away from the scene; of which, the volume of forest products taken away was calculated to be 3,329 ^m3 .
