Application of science and technology, construction and development of flower varieties in Dong Trieu

On the afternoon of January 13, in Binh Khe ward, the Central Institute for Vegetable and Fruit Research in coordination with the Economic Department of Dong Trieu City organized a conference to evaluate and replicate the model of commercial flower production of gladiolus CF 21.09 variety.

Gladiolus is a flower variety grown by many Dong Trieu farmers to develop the annual winter crop economy.

The model of commercial flower production of gladiolus CF 21.09 variety was researched and implemented by the Central Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute in collaboration with the Economic Department of Dong Trieu City from 2023 in Binh Khe Ward, Dong Trieu City.

The project started with the research and implementation of a model of gladiolus propagation from medium-sized tubers on a scale of ^4000m2, then continued to implement a model of commercial flower production of CF.21.09 variety on a scale of 01ha in Binh Khe.

Up to now, after 2 years of research and application of CF 21.09 gladiolus breeding technology, the Central Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute and Dong Trieu Economic Department have successfully built a model for production and development of this flower variety in Binh Khe ward. This is the largest specialized flower growing area in Dong Trieu city with a total area of ​​over 200 hectares, of which gladiolus alone accounts for over 100 hectares.

Mr. Nguyen Van Dang, Trai Thong area, Binh Khe ward, Dong Trieu city, happily harvested gladiolus CF 21.09 flowers transferred by the Central Fruit and Vegetable Research Institute.

The bold research and application of science and technology to improve the quality and efficiency of crops in Dong Trieu City not only solves the problem of seed degeneration in current cultivation but also creates conditions for transferring scientific advances for people to improve the quality of seed production as well as innovate the quality of flower areas. Thereby continuously improving the income as well as the life of farmers in the city.
