Model of growing Kim Hoang Hau melon in a greenhouse according to VietGAP standards of Ms. Hoang Thi Huong's family in Vinh Phuc commune (Vinh Loc).
Records in Hoang Hoa district show that, from the application of science and technology, many production linkage areas have been formed in the district, bringing high economic efficiency, creating breakthroughs in production development such as the model of growing Kim Hoang Hau melon, cucumbers, vegetables of all kinds in greenhouses and net houses in Hoang Dat, Hoang Thang, Hoang Hop communes; the model of linking high-quality rice intensive cultivation associated with the value chain in the direction of VietGAP in Hoang Quy commune with a scale of 17 hectares... In particular, implementing the Project "Developing brackish water aquaculture to 2025, with a vision to 2030", many production models in the direction of applying scientific and technological advances have been formed, bringing high economic efficiency such as the 2-phase shrimp farming model using Biofloc technology in Hoang Thanh and Hoang Yen communes; the freshwater aquaculture model in the direction of VietGAP associated with the value chain in Hoang Dat commune...
Also from the implementation of the above project, aquaculture forms in the district have had a strong change, especially the high-tech shrimp farming model in greenhouses and net houses. Statistics from the functional department show that, up to now, the total shrimp farming area applying technology in Hoang Hoa district is estimated at 324.8 hectares. Of which, high-tech production reaches 84.8 hectares, high-tech production is 240 hectares. The application of science and technology in production has contributed to increasing productivity from 30 - 50 tons/ha/crop, while minimizing environmental pollution, especially being able to raise 3 crops/year with circulating farming techniques, Biofloc techniques...
In Vinh Loc district, to build production models in the direction of applying science and technology, the district has proactively coordinated with functional units to widely deploy scientific and technical advances in seeds, fertilizers, and intensive farming measures in cultivation and animal husbandry. At the same time, it has called on and mobilized businesses and households to invest in developing agricultural production in the direction of applying high technology. Currently, the whole district has developed 5.9 hectares of greenhouses and net houses to produce safe vegetables, tubers, and fruits; 90% of poultry farms apply VietGAP farming practices, biosafety, and disease control; 92% of farms apply waste treatment technology in animal husbandry. The district's policy in 2025 and the coming years is to build a high-quality rice production area with an area of about 400 hectares. All production stages from land preparation, sowing, fertilization, harvesting, etc. are mechanized and follow the direction of applying science and technology. For example, fertilization and pesticide spraying use drones; harvesting uses combine harvesters... Along with that, expanding the scale and area of greenhouses and net houses; using automatic irrigation systems combined with nutrition, soilless farming technology (hydroponics, growing on substrates) to produce high-quality vegetables, tubers and fruits.
Practical assessment shows that building models applying scientific and technological advances in production not only helps to improve productivity and product quality but also contributes to saving production costs and increasing income for people. Ms. Pham Thi Dung, owner of a model of growing vegetables and fruits in greenhouses in Phuong Giai village, Vinh Tien commune (Vinh Loc) shared: “My family has been intensively growing vegetables, tubers and fruits for many years, but mainly following traditional methods, without applying technical processes, so the value and economic efficiency are still low. From 2021, the family switched to a model of growing and caring for vegetables, tubers and fruits in greenhouses according to VietGAP processes. Compared with traditional farming, products produced in the direction of applying science and technology are less susceptible to pests and diseases, have high productivity, guaranteed quality, economic efficiency and income are also increased”.
Not only Hoang Hoa or Vinh Loc districts, clearly aware of the importance of science and technology in agricultural production, in other localities such as Nong Cong, Yen Dinh, Tho Xuan, Thieu Hoa, Quang Xuong, Hau Loc... have also formed many production models in the direction of applying scientific and technological advances such as the high-tech rice production model in Thieu Hoa town; the fruit tree production model according to VietGAP standards in Thieu Long commune (Thieu Hoa); the model of growing vegetables, tubers, and fruits in greenhouses and net houses in Tho Lap, Tho Lam, Bac Luong communes (Tho Xuan)... Most of the production models applying scientific and technological advances are promoting efficiency, have the ability to be replicated, contributing to the transformation of crop and livestock structure and the shift from agricultural production to agricultural economy, from high-yield agriculture to high-tech, high-value agriculture.
