Develop production models based on the application of science and technology.

(Baothanhhoa.vn) - Applying science and technology to crop cultivation and livestock farming is an inevitable trend, a direction that localities in the province are choosing and promoting in the current period. This direction has helped to gradually change the production structure, improve productivity, quality and value of products, as well as form production models along the value chain.

Develop production models based on the application of science and technology.

Observations in Hoang Hoa district show that, thanks to the application of science and technology, many production linkage areas have been formed in the district, bringing high economic efficiency and creating breakthroughs in production development. Examples include the model of growing Kim Hoang Hau melons, cucumbers, and various vegetables in greenhouses and net houses in Hoang Dat, Hoang Thang, and Hoang Hop communes; the model of intensive high-quality rice cultivation linked to the value chain according to VietGAP standards in Hoang Quy commune with a scale of 17 hectares... In particular, the implementation of the "Development of brackish water aquaculture until 2025, with orientation to 2030" project has led to the formation of many production models applying scientific and technological advancements, bringing high economic efficiency, such as the two-stage shrimp farming model using Biofloc technology in Hoang Thanh and Hoang Yen communes; and the freshwater aquaculture model according to VietGAP standards linked to the value chain in Hoang Dat commune...

Thanks to the implementation of the above project, aquaculture practices in the district have undergone significant changes, especially high-tech shrimp farming in greenhouses and net houses. Statistics from the relevant department show that the total area of shrimp farming applying technology in Hoang Hoa district is estimated at 324.8 hectares. Of this, 84.8 hectares are using high-tech methods, and 240 hectares are using advanced technology. The application of science and technology in production has contributed to increasing productivity by 30-50 tons/hectare/crop, while minimizing environmental pollution. Notably, it is possible to raise 3 crops per year with recirculating aquaculture systems and Biofloc technology.

In Vinh Loc district, to develop production models based on the application of science and technology, the district has proactively coordinated with functional units to widely implement scientific and technical advancements in seeds, fertilizers, and intensive farming methods in crop cultivation and livestock breeding. At the same time, it has called upon and encouraged businesses and households to invest in the development of high-tech agricultural production. Currently, the entire district has developed 5.9 hectares of greenhouses and net houses for the production of safe vegetables and fruits; 90% of poultry farms apply VietGAP farming practices, biosafety, and disease control; and 92% of farms apply waste treatment technology in livestock farming. The district's policy for 2025 and the coming years is to build a high-quality rice production area of approximately 400 hectares. All stages of production, from land preparation, sowing, fertilizing, harvesting, etc., will be mechanized and based on the application of science and technology. For example, fertilization and pesticide spraying are done using drones; harvesting is done using combine harvesters... Along with that, the scale and area of greenhouses and net houses are being expanded; automatic irrigation systems combined with nutrients are being used, and soilless farming technologies (hydroponics, growing on substrates) are being applied to produce high-quality vegetables and fruits.

Practical assessments show that building models applying scientific and technological advancements to production not only helps improve productivity and product quality but also contributes to saving production costs and increasing people's income. Ms. Pham Thi Dung, owner of a greenhouse vegetable and fruit farming model in Phuong Giai village, Vinh Tien commune (Vinh Loc district), shared: “My family has been intensively cultivating various vegetables and fruits for many years, but mainly using traditional methods without applying technical procedures, so the economic value and efficiency were low. Since 2021, my family has switched to a model of growing and caring for vegetables and fruits in greenhouses according to VietGAP standards. Compared to traditional farming, products produced using scientific and technological applications are less susceptible to pests and diseases, have higher yields, guaranteed quality, and increased economic efficiency and income.”

Not only in Hoang Hoa or Vinh Loc districts, but also in other localities such as Nong Cong, Yen Dinh, Tho Xuan, Thieu Hoa, Quang Xuong, Hau Loc, etc., recognizing the importance of science and technology in agricultural production, many production models applying scientific and technological advancements have been established. These include high-tech rice production models in Thieu Hoa town; VietGAP-standard fruit production models in Thieu Long commune (Thieu Hoa); and models for growing vegetables and fruits in greenhouses and net houses in Tho Lap, Tho Lam, and Bac Luong communes (Tho Xuan). Most of these models applying scientific and technological advancements are proving effective, have the potential for replication, and contribute to the transformation of crop and livestock structures, shifting from agricultural production to an agricultural economy, from high-yield agriculture to high-tech, high-value agriculture.
