The wooden painting
The wooden painting "Vinh quy bai to" made by artisans from Hanoi 's craft villages will be displayed at the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam.

The work is solemnly placed in the Front Hall, Thai Hoc Area, the central space of the special national relic Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam.

The painting "Vinh quy bai to" was recognized with 2 Vietnamese records: The largest hand-carved painting "Vinh quy bai to" on a single block of wood in Vietnam and the wooden painting "Vinh quy bai to" with the largest number of characters in Vietnam.

This is a unique work of art, expressing the spirit of honoring the tradition of studiousness and respect for teachers of the Vietnamese people.

Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai and delegates performed the painting presentation ceremony.

The work is made from rare rosewood, 8.33m long, 1.7m wide, 16cm thick, by artisan Bui Trong Lang and colleagues.

The painting recreates the ancient people's journey of studying with teachers, going to the Huong, Hoi, and Dinh exams, passing and receiving the king's grace to return to the village in the "Vinh quy bai to" ceremony.

The composition of the work follows the artistic principle of "dynamic energy", creating the image of the procession like a winding dragon, a typical symbol of Thang Long - Hanoi.

On a solid wooden background, the details are elaborately carved, recreating the jubilant festival atmosphere and familiar scenery: Ngo Mon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace, Van Mieu - Quoc Tu Giam, Khue Van Cac, village gate, banyan tree, well, communal house yard...

Artisan Bui Trong Lang

Speaking at the ceremony, artisan Bui Trong Lang shared: "This is the clearest and most passionate voice for our lifelong aspiration to work through wood paintings to honor our country's culture and preserve the nation's quintessence."

According to the representative of the Center for Cultural and Scientific Activities of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam, placing the work at Thai Hoc House has a particularly profound meaning, contributing to enriching the display space, helping the public, especially the young generation, to better understand and be proud of the tradition of studiousness, the spirit of serving the country and the morality of "remembering the source of the water you drink".

The painting “Returning home in glory to pay homage to ancestors” is not only a unique work of art but also a symbol of Vietnamese intelligence, continuing the mission of the Temple of Literature - Quoc Tu Giam in preserving and promoting cultural values, encouraging learning and honoring talents.
