On May 1, U Minh Ha National Park coordinated with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ca Mau province to organize the U Minh Forest Fragrance Festival at U Minh Ha National Park to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South, National Reunification and International Labor Day.

Mr. Ho Hoang Ca - Deputy Director of U Minh Ha National Park - said that this year, more than 650 athletes, contestants and tourists participated in competitions such as trekking through the forest, racing sampans and especially the challenge of walking on monkey bridges and watching local people catch fish in ponds.

"This is an opportunity to promote and introduce the potential advantages of developing eco-tourism and the unique culture of the locality with the motto of continuing to maintain and promote ecological values and traditional cultural features that our ancestors built from the early days of reclaiming and opening up the land of U Minh Ha.
"This is an opportunity for tourists and everyone to know and love the forest more, to join hands to protect the forest and protect the habitat of wild animals," Mr. Ca wishes.

U Minh Ha National Park is considered the center of the Melaleuca forest ecosystem of Ca Mau province, with a total area of over 8,500 hectares. This is one of the three core areas of Mui Ca Mau Biosphere Reserve, where there are more than 1,700 hectares of the province's only primeval Melaleuca forest.
Together with the vast cajuput forest with countless natural products, it creates a very special, diverse and rich ecosystem, especially monkeys, wild boars, deer, pangolins, otters, eels, snakes, turtles, freshwater fish species...

Ta Thao Ngan - a tourist from Ho Chi Minh City - said she was very lucky to be invited by her friends to go on a trip to U Minh Ha National Park during this holiday.
"I signed up to go trekking through the forest. I found the air here fresh and cool, so I walked and enjoyed the scenery of U Minh Ha forest. I got to see the ponds catching fish, watch my friends racing boats, and challenge myself to cross the monkey bridge. So much fun for one experience," said Ngan.

Ms. Phan Nguyen Thanh Thao, in Ca Mau City, said that participating in today's contest had many interesting games and brought back old memories, childhood.
"Before, I also lived in the countryside, there were many rivers and canals, to cross the river without getting wet I had to take a boat or a monkey bridge. Now that I have the opportunity to experience the monkey bridge again, I feel my childhood memories flooding back, so happy," Ms. Thao shared.
