It can be affirmed that the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, together with the resolutions and directives of the Central Committee, have entered life as a natural course. |
Overcoming difficulties, standing firm, turning the situation around... are phrases often mentioned on this occasion when all levels and sectors look back at the past 1,000 days of operation of the Government of this term.
To have a bright picture of the country's situation, to have socio-economic achievements, we must overcome many storms. Three years seem as long as a decade when each year has had unusual and unpredictable developments, as if to test the mettle of those who steer the country's economic ship.
It can be said that since the 13th National Party Congress, our country has faced many difficulties, some of which are unprecedented. The prolonged COVID-19 pandemic has caused serious consequences, strategic competition between major countries has become increasingly fierce, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine has become complicated; the bloody conflict between Israel and Hamas has increasingly spread to neighboring countries; most supply chains have been broken; inflation has increased, countries have tightened monetary policies, increased interest rates, leading to a decline in growth and increased risks in the international financial, monetary, and real estate markets... deeply affecting political , economic, and social security on a global scale.
With an economic openness of over 200%, Vietnam's economy should have been greatly affected, fluctuating twice as much as the world economy. However, Vietnam still emerged as a bright spot in economic growth rate globally.
Miracles do not come naturally. In the midst of many difficulties and challenges, our economy has recovered and grown thanks to the timely direction of the Party and the flexible and wise management of the Government, as well as the determination of businesses and people to overcome difficulties.

All Vietnamese people welcome the new year 2024 with faith, wishes and expectations for a brighter, better tomorrow. |
At the mid-term conference of the 13th Party Central Committee (7th Central Committee Conference), the Central Committee stated that in the first half of the 2021-2026 term, our country has steadily overcome many difficulties and challenges, achieving important and quite comprehensive results in many fields. General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong acknowledged that there were many objective and subjective reasons contributing to these results, including the sharp, drastic and effective management and direction of the Government, the Prime Minister and authorities at all levels.
Many domestic and international experts highly appreciate the efforts and results that our country has achieved in more than half of the 13th tenure, as well as the courage to overcome storms of the Government and Prime Minister.
Looking back at the past 1,000 days of the Government's operations, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Dinh Thien, former Director of the Vietnam Economic Institute, was impressed by two words: Standing firm and turning the situation around. The economy "stood firm" during the COVID-19 pandemic, overcoming the disruption of the supply chain, while at the same time, creating a foundation to change the rhythm, confidently entering a new development trajectory - high technology, high-level international integration.
He also appreciated the principle of "unusual situations, unusual solutions" that the Government applied. "There is no problem without a solution" is what the Prime Minister has repeatedly affirmed.
The Government's macro management during the recent turbulent period has partly demonstrated the capacity and mettle of the Government and the Prime Minister. Maintaining growth and ensuring macro stability for an open economy in the context of a broken global supply chain and high inflation is a truly meaningful achievement. It is the result of flexible management and administration, in the spirit of actively "adapting to all changes".
From an international perspective, Andrea Coppola, Chief Economist of the World Bank (WB) in Vietnam, said that the global recession was a big shock to Vietnam's open economy. However, the economy still maintained the growth rate that many countries in the world expected. Reality has proven that Vietnam's economic growth is among the top countries in the region and the world.
It can be said that with very specific, in-depth, confident, persistent steps, without exaggeration, the Government of this term has embarked on the task of promoting economic development in a way that "does not rely on others, is self-reliant, and grows from one's own hands, mind, sky, and sea, "turning nothing into something, turning difficult into easy, turning impossible into possible", creating changes from small things to create a strong innovation momentum.
From meetings day and night to discuss and find solutions to development problems, the Prime Minister wants to cherish every percent of growth for the economy, with the spirit of "thinking must be mature, ideas must be clear, determination must be high, efforts must be great. After thinking, take action, do better, say what you do, say less, do more, no showiness or formality".
Up to this point, we can affirm that the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress, together with the resolutions and directives of the Central Committee, have entered life as a natural course, because of their correctness, because the goals were determined in accordance with practical conditions, with "the Party's will in line with the people's will", and also because of the contribution of the Government, all levels and sectors.
The path to prosperity for the country, to greater abundance and prosperity for the people, requires the Government and the entire political system to work hard day and night, to get involved quickly, proactively, and decisively in confronting the storms, not to let development opportunities slip away, to wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly serve the Fatherland and the people.
Entering the new year 2024, more than ever we need to promote the achieved results, urgently act with breakthrough thinking, seize opportunities, renew old motivations, create new motivations, overcome internal weaknesses, combine national strength and the strength of the times to create a combined strength to help the country continue to overcome stormy seas for a strong, prosperous Vietnam, with happier and more prosperous people, standing shoulder to shoulder with the world powers as Uncle Ho always wished.
