The person mentioned is Major General and intelligence officer Vu Ngoc Nha.

Mr. Vu Ngoc Nha's real name is Vu Xuan Nha, born on March 30, 1928, in Vu Hoi commune, Vu Thu district, Thai Binh province, in a studious Confucian family. At the age of 15, his father took him to Hue to study at Thuan Hoa High School. Here, he was enlightened about patriotism and revolutionary ideals.

In 1947, Vu Ngoc Nha volunteered to join the army, became a soldier of Uncle Ho, and worked at the town team of Thai Binh.

In 1952, Vu Ngoc Nha took the name Vu Ngoc Kep and was present in the military delegation of Thai Binh province to attend the Northern Guerrilla Warfare Conference in Viet Bac chaired by General Vo Nguyen Giap and Chief of the General Staff Hoang Van Thai. Also at this Conference, Vu Ngoc Nha received an important task directly assigned by President Ho Chi Minh and General Vo Nguyen Giap: "Your mission is to find out by all means what the US is doing, what the US will do, and what the US has done."

Thanks to his intelligence and love of learning and research, he deeply understood all issues of military, economics, religion, diplomacy , etc. He was directed by the organization to advance to the South.

From the Independence Palace, strategic intelligence officer Vu Ngoc Nha established the A22 intelligence network, with associates who held high positions in the Saigon government at that time. He spent time being imprisoned by the Ngo Dinh Diem government and then, thanks to his intelligence and courage, successfully carried out the plan of "going deep and sneaking high", serving as an advisor to Ngo Dinh Diem.

After Ngo Dinh Diem was overthrown and assassinated, he successfully approached the new ruling groups in Saigon and continued to become an advisor to the next two Presidents of the Republic of Vietnam, Nguyen Van Thieu and Duong Van Minh. These people held the highest positions in Saigon politics and were also his direct sources of accurate strategic intelligence.

Thanks to occupying this important position, intelligence officer Vu Ngoc Nha obtained a series of top secret strategic documents and tactics: from the "Building Strategic Hamlets" plan, "Stalay Taylor Plan" during Diem's time; to the "Rural Pacification Plan", "Phoenix Plan", "US Troops Landing Plan", "Special War Strategy" during Thieu's time, so that our Party could promptly have countermeasures to lead the struggle.

He once said: "Living with the enemy, sitting at the same table, eating at the same table with the enemy, listening to them cursing the revolution, cursing the Communists all day long, just changing my facial expression a little bit can expose me. In fact, for decades of working in enemy territory, I had to change my name and hide my identity to the point that my family, relatives, neighbors and hometown believed I had died long ago.

But there were also people who suspected that I was with the enemy. Therefore, the key point of an intelligence officer is to be absolutely loyal to his comrades and to keep himself covered. It was very stressful, stressful 24/24 hours a day and so on, month after month, year after year. Just a moment of carelessness could lead to failure, not only my own death, but also the death of my comrades, ruining the whole common work, and even my wife and children."

In the file obtained at the General Directorate of the National Police of the Republic of Vietnam, there is a passage that says: "Until now, except for fictional anecdotes in detective novels, there have never been such successful spy groups. Group A22 led by Mr. Vu Ngoc Nha developed steadily and demonstrated many tricks that we must admit are magical and excellent.

The group developed a very important spy system and penetrated many of the central agencies of the Republic of Vietnam. The strategic information that the national police knew they provided was valuable in helping Hanoi have solid data when determining their policy towards the war.

With his outstanding achievements, after 1975, he continued to work at General Department II, Ministry of National Defense. However, it was not until 1987, when the novel "The Advisor - Profile of a Spy" by writer Huu Mai was published, that the identity and career of intelligence officer Vu Ngoc Nha became known to the public.

His name and career not only made tens of millions of Vietnamese people admire and respect him, but also made his opponents, even high-ranking politicians of the US and the puppet regime, respect him.
