Vietnam wins first Gold Medal at Asian Para Games 2023

(CPV) - Athlete Le Tien Dat brought home the first Gold Medal for the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation at the 2023 Asian Para Games.

On the morning of October 27, athlete Le Tien Dat (SB5 disability class) brought home the first Gold Medal for Vietnamese Sports for the Disabled in the 100m Breaststroke event at the 2023 Asian Para Games.

In the final of the men's 100m breaststroke SB5 category, Vietnam had 3 athletes competing: Le Tien Dat, Do Thanh Hai, Danh Hoa, along with 1 athlete from the host country, China, Luo Jinbiao. In the end, Le Tien Dat won with a time of 1 minute 34 seconds 04. This is the first Gold Medal of the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation at the 2023 Asian Para Games.

Winning the Silver Medal in this event was Do Thanh Hai with a time of 1 minute 35 seconds 11. Winning the Bronze Medal was athlete Luo Jinbiao (China) with a time of 1 minute 50 seconds 24.

Previously, on October 26 - the 4th official competition day of the 2023 Asian Para Games, the Vietnam Disabled Chess Team competed in the 7th and final game of the Standard Chess event. The final result was that the Vietnamese players won 5 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals in this event.

With the first Gold Medal, the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation temporarily ranked 20th on the medal table with 1 Gold Medal, 7 Silver Medals, 6 Bronze Medals. The top 3 leading delegations are China (158 Gold Medals, 129 Silver Medals, 110 Bronze Medals), Iran (33 Gold Medals, 37 Silver Medals, 30 Bronze Medals), Japan (30 Gold Medals, 33 Silver Medals, 42 Bronze Medals). The Thai delegation rose to 4th place with 21 Gold Medals, 18 Silver Medals and 37 Bronze Medals./.
