Vietnam is not only Hesse's most important trading partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), but also an important partner in education , research and technology.

After his visit to Vietnam from November 26 to December 1, Prime Minister of the German state of Hesse, Boris Rhein, gave positive assessments, emphasizing the close and cooperative relationship between the state of Hesse and Vietnam.

Speaking in Wiesbaden, the capital of Hessen state, after returning from Vietnam, Mr. Boris Rhein affirmed: “The long-standing relationship between Hessen and Vietnam is a model for international cooperation. Vietnam is not only our most important trade partner in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) but also an important partner in education, research and technology."

According to the head of the state of Hessen: “With more than 350 German companies in Vietnam and 50,000 jobs created, it is clear how closely linked our economies are. We want to expand this cooperation further. In our trusted discussions, I am in favor of increasing our joint activities, especially in the recruitment of skilled workers...”.

The website of the Office of the Prime Minister of Hessen also quoted Mr. Boris Rhein: "Since 2012, Vietnam and Hessen have been connected through a strategic partnership, including cooperation in the fields of science, education and economy."

Sharing this positive view, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Hessen, accompanying the State President to visit Vietnam, emphasized that Hessen has had a very close relationship with Vietnam for decades and this is bringing benefits on many levels.

The highlight of Mr. Boris Rhein's visit to Vietnam this time was attending the graduation ceremony at the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) in Ho Chi Minh City.

In his speech, Prime Minister Boris Rhein said: “VGU is the 5th largest bilingual university in the world with German participation. The Vietnamese-German University makes an important contribution to the development of science and technology in Vietnam. Through VGU, we are strengthening the relationship between the two countries. I am proud that with this key project, we are further strengthening the already close cooperation. The Hessen State Government once again agrees to further promote and strengthen VGU.”./.
