Vietnam - Japan strengthen cooperation in semiconductor field

This is Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru's first visit to Vietnam since he took office and also the first visit of a Japanese Prime Minister to Vietnam after the two countries upgraded their relationship to "Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the World " in November 2023.

The two Prime Ministers expressed their delight at the strong, comprehensive and substantive development of the Vietnam-Japan Comprehensive Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity in Asia and the world after more than one year of upgrading, affirming that they will closely coordinate and further strengthen the Vietnam-Japan bilateral cooperation towards a new era for Vietnam.

The documents exchanged in the presence of the two Prime Ministers include: Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan on research and development cooperation in the field of semiconductors; Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan on human resource development cooperation in the field of semiconductors.

At the same time, the two sides also signed a Framework Agreement on teaching Japanese in Vietnamese high schools between the Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training and the Embassy of Japan; a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation between the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on promoting bilateral cooperation projects in the field of energy transition.
