Vietnam promotes joint efforts
On July 17, Ambassador Dang Hoang Giang - Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to the United Nations - had a working session with Ambassador Dennis Francis, President of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly and Head of the Trinidad and Tobago Delegation to the United Nations, on the international situation, the focus of the work of the United Nations General Assembly in the upcoming session and Vietnam's policies, priorities and concerns - VNA reported.
The President of the 78th General Assembly emphasized that during his term, he will focus on promoting the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), supporting countries in building and shaping global development trends at the Future Summit event to take place in September 2024.

Vietnam shares solutions to implement SDGs
During his working trip to the US from July 13-17, Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung - Head of the Vietnamese delegation - attended the United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) and presented the Voluntary National Review (VNR) of Vietnam's implementation of the 2023 sustainable development goals.
Speaking at the Forum, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung said Vietnam's commitment to continue promoting its role as a responsible member, actively contributing to the common efforts of the international community.
According to Minister Nguyen Chi Dung, over the past 5 years, the entire political system and society have made efforts to implement the SDGs with the core motto "no one is left behind" and have achieved certain achievements in implementing the SDGs.
The report highlights six cross-cutting solutions for Vietnam to successfully implement the SDGs in the remaining half of the journey, including: Putting people at the center of all decisions, policies and actions; Considering science , technology and innovation as the decisive lever for success in implementing the SDGs; Improving the quality of human resources; Strengthening the management and efficient use of resources; Protecting the environment and responding to climate change, preventing, combating and mitigating natural disasters; Mobilizing and effectively using financial resources for implementing the SDGs; Continuing to improve the availability of data to serve the monitoring and evaluation of the implementation of the SDGs.
Vietnam's presentation received the attention and participation of many countries, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations. The delegates welcomed and highly appreciated the careful preparation of both the content and format of the second VNR presentation and asked Vietnam to share its experiences on issues related to energy transition, the role of social organizations, policy changes, data use for VNR, and efforts to leave no one behind in implementing SDGs in Vietnam.
Minister Nguyen Chi Dung answered questions on behalf of the delegation and affirmed that Vietnam is committed to continuing to promote its role as a responsible member of the international community, actively contributing to common efforts so that no individual or country is left behind in this process.
