Vietnam International Tourism Fair - VITM Hanoi 2025 officially opened this morning, April 10, in Hanoi in a vibrant, colorful atmosphere with many performances imbued with traditional cultural elements by domestic and international art troupes performed on the main stage.

The event will last until April 13, 2025.

Head of the organizing committee of VITM Hanoi 2025, Chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, Mr. Vu The Binh said that this year's VITM is more special than ever when focusing on two factors: green transformation and digital transformation in the tourism industry.

In addition, tuna performances from Phu Yen, cultural art troupes from Da Nang , and art troupes from Malaysia, Taiwan (China)... will be attractive highlights of this fair.

“Wings” of Vietnam tourism industry

At the opening ceremony of the event, the Head of the VITM Organizing Committee commented that the world is entering a digital transformation race. While green transformation is directly related to lifestyle, sustainable production and consumption, digital transformation focuses on the way businesses operate, organize, manage and run.

Digital transformation helps accelerate development, increase efficiency, and expand the market. To achieve the double-digit growth target set by the tourism industry, technology plays an extremely important role. Tourism cannot stay out of this digital revolution.

With the goal of promoting digital transformation in the tourism industry, for the first time, within the framework of VITM Hanoi 2025, the Vietnam Tourism Association in collaboration with VietSolutions Group designed the TechZone booth to display 20 advanced technology solutions to create a technological experience journey for visitors.

This area not only introduces and demonstrates but also has interactive activities and direct exchanges between visitors and technology solutions, especially demonstrations using robots and AI applications. Visitors can directly chat and interview robots right at the booth.

Sharing with reporters of VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper, General Director of Vietsolutions Group, Mr. Luong Thanh Nam said that during the fair, 14 topics on AI applications, Robotics, Smart Hotel... will be shared in the TechTalk section, right at the TechZone booth. This is the first time in Vietnam that 14 large domestic and foreign technology companies have joined hands to create a "Technology Map of Vietnam's Tourism Industry."

"MSP Vietnam brings wifi solutions and wifi marketing. BestPrice Travel introduces AI applications in Travel Assistant. Hoan My Group and DIGICORP introduce Cleaning Robot and Service Robot - the future of the F&B (Food & Beverage) and hotel industry... In addition, there are dozens of other digital technologies such as: AI Chatbot & Chathub; AI multilingual translation; Buggy car booking application for tourist areas; IoT for the tourism & hotel industry...," said Mr. Luong Thanh Nam.

The organizers expect that the success of the digital transformation program, typical applications of AI, robots in the field of travel, hotels and tourism services will improve the tourist experience and optimize industry management. Opening the TechZone booth at VITM 2025 will create opportunities for businesses to access technology and implement stronger digital transformation, quickly moving towards the goal of green growth and sustainable development.

Although affirming that this year’s VITM is not a specialized fair on digital transformation, the organizers believe that such a gentle warm-up activity will help introduce businesses and the public to what technology can bring to the tourism industry. “You may have seen these technologies in the press or on television, but when you experience them firsthand, the feeling will be very different,” said Ms. Cao Thi Ngoc Lan, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Tourism Association.

Because Vietnam still has a gap in technology access compared to the world, people's lives are still difficult, and the starting point is still low, experts say that the process of applying high technology cannot be rushed.

Therefore, although slow, industry insiders determined that it is still necessary to take firm steps so that by 2026, VITM can become a comprehensive digital transformation fair in the tourism sector in Vietnam, which is a pioneering and highly creative economic sector.

“We all understand that if Vietnamese tourism wants to develop strongly after the pandemic, it needs a comprehensive change from thinking to action. And green transformation and digital transformation are the 'wings' of the tourism industry. This is also the way we concretize the orientations and directions of the Party and Government on sustainable development,” the leader of the Vietnam Tourism Association emphasized.

"Shock" from digital transformation

Currently, Vietnam has about 40,000 tourism businesses, of which more than 17,000 small and medium-sized enterprises are members of associations in provinces and cities. This is a large force, but it is also the group with the largest gap with technology. Therefore, one of the biggest expectations of the organizing committee of VITM this year is to create a positive "shock", creating real motivation for tourism businesses to enter digital transformation in a more drastic and synchronous way.

Through practical meetings, exchanges and sharing to find models and solutions suitable for each group of businesses, especially small and medium enterprises, the VITM organizing committee hopes to contribute to helping tourism businesses in particular and Vietnam's smokeless industry in general make a breakthrough in the new period.

“Our goal is to create initial interest, a new awareness, so that we can prepare more carefully. Next year, VITM Hanoi 2026 will be a fair with a strong imprint of digital transformation, with stronger participation from technology businesses, startups, as well as applied solutions in operations, marketing, and customer care in the tourism sector,” emphasized the Head of the VITM Organizing Committee.

That is the expectation, but in 2025 and the coming period, those in the tourism industry know that they will have to face many difficulties. Rapid, strong and favorable growth like in the previous period is difficult in the current economic context.

However, “the important thing is that the whole industry must change its mindset and proactively adapt. Tourism is a comprehensive economic sector, directly affected by many other areas, from transportation, finance, environment, to policy and social psychology. Therefore, we always try to convince businesses that they need to look back at themselves, restructure, and adjust their operations to be more suitable, more optimal, and more creative. This is not an easy task. But if we do not do it, Vietnamese tourism will fall behind and lose market share right at home,” Mr. Vu The Binh affirmed./.

Vietnam International Tourism Fair - VITM Hanoi 2025 organized by Vietnam Tourism Association will take place from April 10-13, 2025, at ICE Hanoi International Exhibition Center (Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace, 91 Tran Hung Dao, Hanoi), with the theme "Developing green destinations, elevating Vietnam tourism."

This year's fair has 450 booths, attracting more than 600 businesses, 60 domestic and foreign tourism promotion agencies, 8 airlines, and representatives from 16 countries and territories.
