VPUB - Summary of the emulation movement "Old age, bright example" for 5 years (2020

Dienbien.gov.vn - On the morning of April 23, at the Provincial Children's House, the Provincial Association of the Elderly (NCT) held a conference to summarize the emulation movement "Old age, bright example" for 5 years (2020 - 2025 period). Attending the conference were comrade Lo Van Cuong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee.

Individuals honored to receive the Medal "For the cause of caring for and promoting the role of the elderly" from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Elderly Association.

Over the past 5 years, the emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" of Dien Bien province has achieved many positive results. Specifically, the organization of the Association has been strengthened, the whole province has more than 49,000 members in 129 grassroots associations and over 1,400 branches and groups. The rate of elderly people participating in the Association is 96%. Elderly care has received comprehensive attention: More than 4,000 elderly people are congratulated on their longevity each year; more than 8,700 people are given gifts; the program "Bright eyes for the elderly" has been widely implemented with thousands of free examinations and glasses. The elderly have promoted their positive role in social life: More than 16,000 people continue to participate in production labor, of which 1,237 elderly people are business owners, cooperatives, and farms. More than 3,000 elderly people have achieved the title of "good economic performer". More than 3,400 elderly people are participating in building the grassroots political system (Party, Government, Fatherland Front and mass organizations). Thousands of elderly people are the core in the movement to build new rural areas, protect the environment, encourage learning, and preserve national cultural identity. The above results are vivid evidence of the role, intelligence, prestige and dedication of the elderly in the province. These results have contributed together with the Party Committee, Government and people of Dien Bien province in the work of building and developing the socio-economy, ensuring national defense and security in the province in recent years.

To continue promoting the patriotic emulation movement "Old age - Bright example" in the coming time, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Lo Van Cuong proposed: The Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and provincial socio-political organizations, Party committees, and local authorities: Step up propaganda to raise awareness and responsibility of Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front, organizations, cadres, Party members, union members, association members and people about the position and role of association organizations and members, and the elderly in the current period. Pay attention to leading and directing the good resolution of policies for the elderly; strengthen activities to care for the material and spiritual lives of the elderly, create favorable conditions for the elderly to live happily, healthily, usefully and become bright examples in implementing movements and emulation competitions in the locality, contributing to promoting the role of the elderly in all areas of social life. Direct the implementation of the "Action Month for the Elderly in Vietnam" with practical and effective activities to promote good traditions, promote the protection, care and promote the role and positive contributions of the elderly in the family and society. For the Elderly Association at all levels, it is necessary to continue to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation, actively mobilize members to implement the Party's guidelines, policies and laws of the State. Focus on building a clean and strong association; strengthen solidarity and unity in the executive committee and members; improve the effectiveness of participation in building the Party, government, Fatherland Front and clean and strong grassroots organizations. Pay attention to health care, create conditions for the elderly to enjoy culture, access information, live happily, live healthily and happily; promote the intelligence, life experience, work and study of the elderly in society and family; Continue to build a family of "Exemplary grandparents, filial children, harmonious couples, united siblings, loving each other, helping the lonely and homeless".
