With an area of nearly 35 km² and a population of over 38 thousand people, Dong Thuy Anh commune promotes its coastal local advantages, focusing on developing the marine economy in a comprehensive and sustainable direction.
Dong Thuy Anh commune has 425 hectares of aquaculture area, with an output of over 2,800 tons/year.
Effective exploitation of marine potential
Currently, Dong Thuy Anh commune has 425 hectares of aquaculture area and 143 fishing vessels, with an output of over 2.8 thousand tons/year. Ship owners have proactively invested in modern equipment, of which 14 ships are equipped with voyage monitoring devices according to regulations on combating illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing. Mr. Vu Van Hung, owner of ship TB90388TS shared: We always clearly identify that fishing is associated with protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands. Keeping logs, installing voyage monitoring devices and complying with legal regulations are prerequisites for sustainable development of the fishing industry.
Not only exploiting, Dong Thuy Anh commune promotes sustainable and effective aquaculture development. Ms. Nguyen Thi Thuy in Vu Dong village is one of the typical households with a model of integrated aquaculture of sea bass, white-leg shrimp and crab, on an area of 10 sao. Ms. Thuy shared: In early 2025, I released 80,000 shrimp fry. After 105 days of farming, I harvested 1.05 tons, sold at 110,000 VND/kg, earning more than 115 million VND. In addition, 3,000 sea bass fry are also being cared for, expected to be harvested at the end of August 2025. Thanks to the practical support from the Farmers' Association at all levels, I was given the opportunity to borrow 150 million VND from the Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development to invest in upgrading ponds, water supply and drainage systems and buying high-quality fry. In September 2025, I will plant shrimp to serve the Lunar New Year market. I hope to continue to receive timely support and companionship to expand the scale and improve production efficiency.

Mr. Bui Van Linh, a member of the Youth Union in Vu Dong village, shared: Mangrove forests are a valuable natural shield protecting sea dykes and aquaculture ponds. We regularly participate in planting and preserving forests and hope to develop more types of eco-tourism such as: Resting huts, floating restaurants, "infinite sea" experience tours to effectively exploit the economic value of coastal areas. I think this is the right direction, opening up new potential in exploiting coastal spaces in a harmonious and sustainable way.

Connecting marine economy with industry and services

Mr. Tran Tuan Kiet, Chairman of the Commune People's Committee, said: VSIP Thai Binh project is strategically located in the center of the Red River Delta, adjacent to the economic triangle of Hanoi - Hai Phong - Quang Ninh. The traffic network is synchronously connected with major routes such as: Ninh Binh - Hai Phong Expressway, coastal road, National Highway 37, which has just been completed and put into use, creating favorable conditions for the development of industry, trade and logistics.
In addition, Dong Thuy Anh also focuses on developing trade, services, and seafood processing. Notably, Mr. Nguyen Dinh Tuyen's Hong Ngoc anchovy product is recognized as meeting 3-star OCOP standards, affirming its quality and market potential. Currently, Mr. Tuyen's facility sells over 3 tons of dried fish/month, creating regular jobs for 6 workers, with a stable income of about 8 million VND/person. Mr. Tuyen shared: He hopes that the local government will create conditions to expand the processing workshop, support connections, and promote products to reach the export market.
Along with production development, credit and financial activities in the commune have also been strengthened. Thuy Hong People's Credit Fund continues to maintain stability, playing an important role in capital circulation for production and local consumption. Agricultural and aquaculture cooperatives play a key role in supplying materials, breeds, electricity and water, contributing to the formation of a closed and effective production, processing and consumption value chain. From a purely agricultural commune, Dong Thuy Anh is gradually transforming itself, effectively exploiting coastal advantages, actively contributing to the overall success of Thai Binh economic zone in the new period.
