According to Venerable Thich Nhat Tu, the procession of Buddha's relics to Vietnam has three great meanings:

- First of all, this is a vivid symbol of the friendship and deep trust between Vietnam and India, especially in the fields of culture and Buddhism.

- Second, the Buddha's relics - honored as the National Treasure of India - being brought to Vietnam, represents the extremely sacred spiritual and cultural gift that the Government and people of India have given on the occasion of the 2025 Vesak Festival in Vietnam.

- Third, the event opens up opportunities for the global Buddhist community to come to Vietnam to worship the Sarira, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's role as a bridge connecting culture and spirituality in the world Buddhist community.

The 2025 Vesak Festival is co-organized by the International Organizing Committee for the United Nations Day of Vesak (ICDV) and the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha.

This is the fourth time Vietnam has hosted the event, previously in Hanoi (2008), Ninh Binh (2014) and Ha Nam (2019).

It is expected that 85 countries and territories will participate in Vesak 2025 in Vietnam. This is the 20th time the festival has been held.

Vesak 2025 takes place from May 6 to 8 at the Vietnam Buddhist Academy in Ho Chi Minh City.

The main message of Vesak 2025 in Vietnam is "Solidarity and tolerance for human dignity: Buddhist wisdom for world peace and sustainable development".
