It was late in the afternoon when the Buddha's relics arrived at Quan Su Pagoda - the headquarters of the Central Buddhist Sangha of Vietnam in Hanoi - but the jubilant, solemn atmosphere with flags, drums and the chanting of Buddha's name by thousands of Buddhists had been bustling along Quan Su Street since early afternoon.

Thousands of people gathered on the streets around Quan Su Pagoda from the morning of May 13, respectfully waiting to welcome the Buddha's relics.

Many people wearing ceremonial costumes, long dresses, blue dresses, brown dresses, clasped their hands in front of their chests, waiting for the moment when Buddha's relics returned to the temple.

30 minutes before the Buddha's relics arrived at the temple, the atmosphere became more bustling with the sound of people chanting Buddha's name in unison, with dragon dance performances, and jubilant drums...

At 7:30 p.m., the Buddha's relics will be carried from Quan Su Pagoda through the streets to Hoan Kiem Lake, paraded around the lake and returned to Quan Su Pagoda.

Along the streets of Ly Thuong Kiet, Hang Bai, Dinh Tien Hoang, Le Thai To, Ba Trieu... where the procession carrying Buddha's relics passed, people lined up on both sides of the street very early to pay their respects.

Earlier on the morning of May 13, the Buddha's relics were brought by the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Indian monks from Ba Den Mountain ( Tay Ninh province) to Tan Son Nhat International Airport, then to Noi Bai International Airport, then to Quan Su Pagoda, Hanoi.

Starting tomorrow, May 14 to May 16, Buddha's relics will be enshrined at Quan Su Pagoda for people to come and worship, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. every day.

It is expected that the number of people coming to Quan Su Pagoda to worship Buddha's relics in the coming days will be very large.

The organizers instruct people to come to worship Buddha's relics to walk lightly and speak softly.

While worshiping to contemplate the life of Buddha, practice speaking good words, doing good deeds, having a pure mind, a peaceful life, happy families, and happy people.

The organizers also recommend that people and Buddhists who come to worship Buddha's relics happily follow the regulations of the organizers and the instructions of the volunteers.

On the morning of May 17, the Buddha's relics will be brought to Tam Chuc Pagoda ( Ha Nam ), where they will be displayed until 12:00 on May 20 for people and Buddhists to come and worship.
