Identifying 30 candidates for the 2025 Golden Ball

On the evening of August 7, France Football magazine announced the list of 30 candidates for the 2025 Ballon d'Or award.

In the above list, PSG dominates with 9 representatives including: Ousmane Dembele, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes, Fabian Ruiz, Joao Neves, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Désiré Doué, Achraf Hakimi, Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Next up are Liverpool and Barca, each with four representatives. Mohamed Salah, Florian Wirtz, Van Dijk and Alexis Mac Allister are the Liverpool players on the list.

Meanwhile, Barca representatives include Pedri, Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Lamine Yamal. Real Madrid has 3 representatives: Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr and Jude Bellingham.

In addition to the above players, the Golden Ball nomination list also includes Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Declan Rice, Viktor Gyokeres (Arsenal), Erling Haaland (Man City), Serhou Guirassy (Dortmund), Lautaro Martinez, Denzel Dumfries (Inter Milan), Michael Olise, Harry Kane (Bayern) and Scott McTominay (Napoli).

Quite surprisingly, the top 30 of the 2025 Ballon d'Or includes former Man United player Scott McTominay - who is currently playing for Napoli and won the Serie A (Italian Championship) Player of the Year Award for the 2024-2025 season. Viktor Gyokeres, Arsenal's new signing, also attracted attention when he was in the top 30.

According to experts, Ousmane Dembele, Vitinha (PSG), Raphinha, Lamine Yamal (Barca) and Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) are strong candidates for the Golden Ball award. Of which, Dembele is slightly better and is rated higher than his opponents.

The 2025 Ballon d'Or award ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Chatelet Theater, Paris on September 22.
