Setting a Vietnamese record of 100 delicious dishes from Dalat artichokes

The contest attracted 37 teams from 12 provinces and cities across the country with 158 dishes.

Mr. Nguyen Huu Huong, Chairman of the Lam Dong Professional Chefs Association , Head of the Jury, said: The competition is organized to promote the quintessence of Vietnamese cuisine. Especially, to introduce hundreds of delicious dishes delicately prepared from Da Lat Artichoke . At the same time, to raise awareness about this plant, which is both a medicinal herb and a precious food, within the framework of the 130th anniversary of the formation and development of the flower city of Da Lat ”.

The contest was truly a playground, an exchange, and a promotion of cuisine from all regions of Vietnam. Lam Dong and 11 provinces and cities across the country had 37 teams participating in the contest with 158 dishes, competing with a variety of menus. The dishes were presented aesthetically, deliciously, and had high applicability. Many dishes positioned the culinary brand of Da Lat, contributing to the perfect contest that was appreciated by viewers.

The competition is also a professional activity for chefs nationwide to exchange , learn , and explore the culinary culture of Lam Dong and other regions; hone their skills with the goal of more widely promoting the food function of Dalat Artichoke.

The second time it was held, the event set a national culinary record, the program of preparing and performing at the same time “100 delicious dishes from Da Lat artichoke”, left a good impression on tourists, participating teams, guests and friends from all over the country.

Through the contest, Da Lat cuisine in particular and Lam Dong in general have affirmed their position and brand through dishes made from medicinal plants, especially Da Lat artichoke combined with vegetables, tubers, fruits, and flowers; bringing diners many delicious, beautiful, and nutritious dishes. At the same time, it shows that artichokes have been processed into unique snacks.…

The competition is an opportunity for chefs nationwide to exchange , learn and explore the culinary culture of Lam Dong and other regions.

The jury of the competition includes prestigious chefs and culinary experts such as: Chairman of Lam Dong Professional Chefs Association Nguyen Huu Huong , former culinary director of Ana Madara Villas & Resort , Head Chef of Sofitel Palace Da Lat ; culinary artist Ly Sanh , Chairman of Vietnam Culinary Record Club ; Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City Kitchen Association, Judge of TOP CHEF Vietnam ; Mr. Alain Nguyen and Ms. Mai Hoai Hanh , Dalat Culinary Expert 100 delicious dishes from ARTICHOKE for Lam Dong Professional Chefs Association .

Artichoke flowers are the main ingredient for chefs to prepare 100 delicious dishes with unique Asian - European style.

The chefs participating in the contest used the main ingredient of artichoke flowers to prepare 100 delicious dishes with unique Asian - European style. There are typical dishes such as: Artichoke soup with sturgeon cartilage, artichoke beef steak, artichoke chicken hotpot, Phu Quoc artichoke fish eggs, H'Mong chicken stewed with four-season artichokes, artichoke fried rice with five-color sturgeon rolls, artichoke mooncakes...

At the end of the competition, the Jury awarded 1 First Prize to LaDaLat Hotel team , 2 Second Prizes to GolfValley Hotel team, Dalat Artichoke Pho; 3 Third Prizes to Memory Restaurant, TTC Hotel Cluster in Dalat, Daklak Kitchen Association; 4 Encouragement Prizes and 3 Best Presentation Prizes, 3 Creative Prizes to the participating teams. The Young Potential Chef Prize was awarded to Bala Duc Trong Restaurant, Lam Dong.

The event of preparing and performing at the same time "100 dishes from Dalat Artichoke" was announced to set a Vietnamese culinary record.

Originating from Europe , Artichoke has been cultivated in Da Lat for nearly 100 years with a current area of ​​over 100 hectares. In recent years, dishes made from Artichoke have always been classified as high-class dishes of Vietnamese cuisine and enjoyed by tourists when coming to Da Lat .

In April 2023 , the Asia Records Organization recognized 9 new Asian records for Vietnamese dishes and groups of dishes and specialties, including Da Lat Artichoke (Lam Dong).

The event was successful in connecting and promoting the tourism industry of Lam Dong province, towards the 130th anniversary of Da Lat's formation and development, with the goal of building Da Lat city into a smart tourist city, developing culinary tourism by using vegetables, flowers, medicinal plants into macrobiotic dishes, connecting agricultural products from farm to table.

Delicious dishes from Dalat artichokes were brought to the contest.

“The program to set a Vietnamese record, the event of processing and performing “100 delicious dishes from Da Lat artichokes” at the same time, has truly become a festival for many types of tourism businesses. Through the success of the event, it shows that Da Lat city - “The magical crystallization of the good land” can organize many large national and international culinary promotion programs”, said Mr. Nguyen Huu Huong, Chairman of the Association of Professional Chefs of Lam Dong province .

The Lam Dong Professional Chefs Association is considering the feasibility of maintaining this competition as an annual event to promote the destination of Da Lat, Lam Dong, in the future.

If receiving regular attention, support, funding... from departments and sectors, and mobilizing socialized funding sources, Lam Dong Professional Kitchen Association will still organize culinary festivals to position local specialties. In which, expanding to other topics such as: Potato cuisine, street food, green vegetable cuisine, Da Lat tea..., the goal is to contribute to promoting local agricultural products in general as well as the agricultural tourism model with a combination of on-site cuisine in particular.
