Clearly identifying the building of all-people national defense as a consistent strategic policy of the Party, the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command have advised the Provincial Party Committee and the Provincial People's Committee to promote propaganda and education to raise awareness among cadres, party members and people of all walks of life about military and defense viewpoints and policies; about the role of all-people national defense associated with the people's security posture in the new situation.
In the field of building political and spiritual potential, military agencies at all levels focus on advising Party committees and authorities to lead and direct the building of a strong political system; improve the quality of military recruitment, military enrollment, education, and training in national defense and security knowledge, and annually meet and exceed targets.
The effective implementation of policies and measures for managing and protecting national borders, state management of national defense, security and border diplomacy has contributed to raising awareness and responsibility of all levels, sectors and people in building and protecting the Fatherland.

Along with that, the provincial armed forces effectively implemented mass mobilization work and military rear policies, contributing to firmly consolidating the "people's hearts and minds position". Agencies and units regularly organized field training associated with mass mobilization work in remote, border, island, ethnic minority and religious areas; supporting people to develop the economy, stabilize their lives, and sustainably reduce poverty.
Over the past 5 years, the provincial armed forces have contributed more than 10,000 working days to help people each year, with a total converted value of over 4 billion VND. The provincial armed forces have also played a pivotal role in responding to natural disasters, searching and rescuing, preventing and fighting epidemics; implementing policies for the military rear, people with meritorious services, gratitude movements, and joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses launched by the Government.
In terms of building military potential, the provincial armed forces have advised the Party Committee and the government to effectively implement two key contents: Building forces and battle positions. The reorganization of forces after the merger of the armed forces of An Giang and Kien Giang provinces was carried out synchronously and effectively. The militia and reserve forces were built in sufficient numbers and improved in quality. The stations, posts, and permanent militia posts and border posts on the border were consolidated and strictly maintained.
In particular, the Standing Militia Squadron was organized, trained, and operated effectively, closely coordinating with the Coast Guard Region 4 Command and Navy Region 5 in patrolling, controlling, protecting sea and island sovereignty, and handling IUU fishing. It was highly appreciated by the Ministry of National Defense and Military Region 9 and selected as a pilot model for the first phase review.
The provincial armed forces strictly maintained combat readiness, regularly reviewed and adjusted their defensive combat determination, and updated plans in accordance with local characteristics. Coordination with other forces according to Decree No. 03/2019/ND-CP and Decree No. 02/2020/ND-CP of the Government was effectively implemented, contributing to maintaining political security, order, and social safety.
Military agencies at all levels also advise Party committees and authorities to build a system of solid, interconnected defense works suitable to terrain conditions and combat plans for each area, especially at the border, sea and island lines. The implementation of the Project to build a provincial defense zone is carried out synchronously, promoting its role and practical effectiveness in national defense tasks.
Regarding the building of economic potential and the creation of a material and technical foundation for the national defense, the Party Committee and the Provincial Military Command have actively advised on integrating socio-economic development with strengthening national defense and security. Focusing on developing industries and occupations according to the advantages of each locality, creating jobs, and retaining local human resources to serve national defense tasks. Infrastructure is invested in a dual-use direction, both serving development and being ready to mobilize and transform when necessary.
From the achieved results, it can be affirmed that the An Giang Provincial Armed Forces have been promoting their core role in building the national defense. The mechanism of Party leadership, government management, coordination between departments and branches, with the Armed Forces as the core has been operated synchronously and effectively. Awareness and responsibility of all levels, branches and people towards the defense task have been increasingly enhanced.
The national defense posture associated with people's security and the people's hearts posture continues to be firmly consolidated. The provincial armed forces are built comprehensively strong, "exemplary, typical", capable of successfully completing assigned tasks in all situations.
