The year 2025 marks the beginning of a new era associated with the aspiration for prosperity by 2045, when Vietnam strives to become a developed country with high income. In these historic autumn days, where the tradition of resilience meets the aspiration for creation, our country is bursting with new vitality with breakthrough changes and progress, from institutions to practical actions. The willingness to accompany the country, the optimistic and self-reliant spirit in the business community, affirms the ability to overcome all challenges to reach a higher level with achievements, beliefs, national strength and aspirations for power.

To achieve the key goals of the new era, it is indispensable to have a strong national business force with great ideals, a noble spirit of service, linking business interests with community responsibility and the sustainable development of the country. The strategic orientations from Resolution 41-NQ/TW dated October 10, 2023 to Resolution 68-NQ/TW dated May 4, 2025 all emphasize the need for breakthrough policies to form and develop national enterprises, pioneering enterprises, large-scale, playing a leading role in a number of key industries and fields; having international competitiveness and the ability to reach out globally.

However, in addition to the strong encouraging message, the vision of "national enterprises" is still not really clear in terms of awareness, mechanism and policy. Therefore, the new context requires affirming, identifying and positioning more specifically the role and stature of national enterprises, not only in terms of scale and nature, but also in terms of aspiration to contribute, pioneering spirit, innovation...; thereby proposing breakthrough solutions, creating a "runway" for the national enterprise team to promote its strength, effectively contributing to the self-reliance capacity and international position of the country.

In that spirit, on the occasion of the 21st Anniversary of Vietnam Entrepreneurs' Day (October 13, 2004 - October 13, 2025), on October 8, the Vietnam Real Estate Association (Vnrea), Vietnam Real Estate Electronic Magazine (Reatimes) in collaboration with the Vietnam Real Estate Research Institute (VIRES) organized a Workshop: Building and promoting the strength of the national business community for the aspiration of a prosperous Vietnam.

The workshop is an important pillar of the Communication Project on the historic mission of the private economy that has been launched. Within the framework of the program, in addition to the in-depth open discussion sessions and seminars, the Organizing Committee will award symbols to the Top 40 typical private enterprises after 40 years of Innovation, representing the spirit of "Think big - do real - contribute continuously"; at the same time, launch the Special Publication: Private economy in the era of growth.

Mr. Pham Nguyen Toan, Vice President of Vnrea, Editor-in-Chief of Reatimes, said that the workshop focused on clarifying the concept of national enterprises, affirming the stature, historical mission and accompanying role of the national enterprise team in the cause of national development; raising awareness and consensus in society about the pioneering role of national enterprises in the aspiration of a strong and prosperous Vietnam.

In addition, the workshop will discuss experts and businesses, share experiences and solutions to improve competitiveness, adaptability and innovation of Vietnamese enterprises in the new context; at the same time, propose mechanisms and policies for the State to accompany and create conditions for national enterprises to develop sustainably, reach out to the region and the world , and affirm their position in the global supply chain.

The private economy is the most important driving force of the economy.

The historical role of national enterprises affirms the mission of Vietnamese entrepreneurs.

According to Dr. Le Xuan Nghia, Member of the Prime Minister 's Policy Advisory Council, to build a strong nation, there must be strong enterprises. With the current market situation, the key factor determining the nation's self-reliance is enterprises. After nearly 40 years of innovation, Vietnam is at a time when "heavenly time, favorable terrain, and harmony of people" converge to enter the stage of realizing the national vision to 2045. In particular, Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW on private economic development is a historic turning point, affirming that the private economy is the most important driving force of the economy.

How to make national entrepreneurs become the core force in the cause of self-reliance, self-reliance, industrialization and modernization of the country is a question that requires drastic solutions from ministries, branches and localities to realize. In reality, the world knows Vietnamese enterprises mainly in the export sector. Vietnam's goods export in 2024 will reach 400 billion USD, but the FDI sector accounts for 75%, Vietnamese enterprises mainly "export on behalf of others".

"Therefore, in the era of national development, if the Vietnamese economy wants to be self-reliant and self-reliant, Vietnamese enterprises must master technology, develop manufacturing industry with the internal strength of national enterprises; strengthen the pillars of production, manufacturing and technology; the real estate sector needs to shift from a short-term investment channel to an infrastructure platform for sustainable industrialization and urbanization, taking the development of industrial, urban and technological real estate in association with the strategy of production and innovation and the development of affordable commercial housing... to gather talent, create intellectual strength", Dr. Le Xuan Nghia affirmed.

Sharing the same view, Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang, Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, Chairman of the Science and Training Council, Hanoi National University, shared about the historical role and future mission of national enterprises in the process of national development. Resolution No. 68-NQ/TW identifies the private economy as one of the most important driving forces of the national economy. This viewpoint marks a clear shift from simply recognizing to protecting, encouraging and promoting the development of the private economic sector, from a supporting role to leading development.

Developing the private economy is not only an economic requirement but also a political imperative, aiming to consolidate the foundation of national economic autonomy, enhance national competitiveness and adaptability in a volatile world. The collective economic model in a historical period has become a major obstacle, even eliminating the production motivation of individuals and the private sector. Cultural vestiges of "community cohesion" accompanied by "jealousy" still exist, somewhat limiting the spirit of competition and the desire to rise. Therefore, the current transformation of private enterprises paves the way for the formation of the Vietnamese business community, laying the foundation for building strong national enterprises capable of playing a key role in the national economy in the future.

"Vietnam has 40 years of innovation, the most important thing is the innovation of thinking. Since then, the private economy has gradually affirmed its role with Resolution 68. National enterprises are considered a key factor contributing to spreading national aspirations in the economy, becoming a driving force for sustainable growth and national self-reliance. To realize that, the State needs to create a solid 'runway', through a transparent, consistent policy system and encourage innovation, helping the private sector to develop strongly. From there, each enterprise will be more deeply aware of its social responsibility and mission to the country, contributing to making Vietnam an independent, self-reliant and prosperous economy", shared Prof. Dr. Science, People's Teacher Vu Minh Giang.

Regarding this issue, Mr. Pham Quang Vinh, Member of the Prime Minister's Policy Advisory Council, former Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, added that when talking about national enterprises, they must certainly be Vietnamese enterprises, but not only have "Vietnamese nationality", but also must demonstrate Vietnamese identity, Vietnamese intelligence and Vietnamese aspirations. The business team needs to aim for the goal of reaching out globally, not stopping at the role of processing and supporting, but must move up to higher segments in the value chain to maintain the leading role. On the other hand, national enterprises include enterprises that have grown strong and enterprises that are striving to grow. The current priority policy is for "locomotive" enterprises, but also creates conditions for other enterprises to have the opportunity to grow, forming an ecosystem of national enterprises to develop together... And the real breakthrough lies in the priority policy for national enterprises, how to arouse, nurture and promote the strength of this force...
