Late on March 13, a tractor-trailer carrying a 40-foot container was traveling on Vo Chi Cong Street towards Cat Lai Port. When reaching the intersection of Vo Chi Cong - Nguyen Thi Dinh (Thu Duc City, Ho Chi Minh City), the driver drove the tractor-trailer into the My Thuy roundabout tunnel to enter Cat Lai Port when the tractor-trailer suddenly caught fire. The driver and the assistant opened the cabin door to escape and shouted for help.

The fire quickly broke out and threatened to spread to the cargo container behind. The driver quickly turned on the tractor cabin to prevent the fire from spreading to the container and then used a mini fire extinguisher he had brought with him to put out the fire but was unsuccessful.

The Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Team of Thu Duc area mobilized vehicles and officers to the scene to put out the fire. The fire was extinguished, the tractor was severely damaged.

Fire engines were dispatched to extinguish the fire.

The impact of the fire caused many heavy vehicles moving through the tunnel to enter Cat Lai port to stop, causing congestion. Cat Lai Traffic Police Team (Traffic Police Department, Ho Chi Minh City Police) coordinated with functional units to divert and regulate traffic to avoid congestion.

A rescue vehicle was dispatched to the scene to remove the damaged tractor-trailer in front of the My Thuy roundabout underpass, and traffic was cleared.
