Recorded in many dragon fruit growing areas in Tien Giang, Long An, Binh Thuan , the price of grade 1 dragon fruit is over 40,000 VND/kg, grade 2 is 35,000 - 38,000 VND/kg, grade 3 is from 30,000 - 33,000 VND/kg, an increase of 10,000 - 15,000 VND/kg compared to last month.
Explaining the reason for this growth, the Vietnam Fruit and Vegetable Association (Vina Fruit) said that normally from December to April, China increases dragon fruit imports to ensure domestic consumption demand. Along with that, the area of dragon fruit in the country is also currently decreasing because in 2023, the price of dragon fruit is low, causing many gardeners to switch to growing other crops such as durian, jackfruit, etc. Meanwhile, dragon fruit growing areas are facing drought and salinity, causing dragon fruit production to decline.
Currently, in addition to the Chinese market, Vietnamese dragon fruit is also exported to many other markets such as Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Korea... However, from May to November, China will enter the dragon fruit harvest season, so the price of dragon fruit may decrease again.
